I remember seeing a lot of Exxon tanker trucks on the road every time I would be in Delaware. This was around maybe 10 years ago. I haven't seen an Exxon tanker since then. I was wondering if Exxon still had their own tanker fleet anymore

I can only speak for the Austin/ San Antonio area in TX and Exxon disbanded its fleet about 2 yrs ago. Many of the drivers retired with a nice pension and I used to work with a few of them when they got hired at Dupre Logistics.

Not at Irving terminal. Still have all the maintenance bays, truck washes, fuel island but they are not used. Operators use shop for other stuff.

When I was a kid they all had their own fleets. Enco, Shell, Sinclair, Texaco, others were always spotless. Name was always on the tank in HUGE colored lettering. Why not? If you have a rolling billboard why not use it? 1st ones I remember not badging their own was Mission Petroleum in DFW. They hauled for Sigmor Shamrock stations mainly. Then over the yrs they all went that way. Same with racks. Used to be several dozen in DFW exclusive to large companies. Still have a lot but all are renamed except Exxon. Flint Hill, Motiva{Shell}, Magellan, Noble, Valero, NuStar, Kimber Morgan, Direct Fuel, others. There are several in N Ft Worth that are idle or have been dismantled. Used to be a huge fuel area. Now only Motiva remains in that area.

Exxon used to run their own tankers in baltimore up till a few years ago. They don't anymore, I know they sold their equipment but I can't remember the company that bought it.

NJ also used to have their own fleet but recently got rid of it. Bought out by quest logistics and they also sold all their stations. They are getting out of the retail end of the business. I guess to much aggravation. The only major brand here in nj using their own trucks is gulf and Sunoco.

You may see a Exxon truck but look at the door. If it says Exxon then it's Exxon but if it's a different name that's the company that's doing their work. All trucks must have the company name on the doors of the cab but can have any name on the trailer. When Exxon, Chevron, ARCO, etc, do that they sold their accounts to a company and they are known as a dedicated carrier. (Or that truck is anyways)
