If I may ask why Werner? But you're right when you say its better to just stick it out because you're not going to find the company youre in search of as a new driver. If you quit all you'll be doing is going from one stressful headache to another. But once you learn the ropes you do get use to it and its not as bad as it once was. You'll be considered a newby for a yr.
I want some good soild advice on Werner. can anyone help me with this?

I liked nice trucks. Comfort is a must. Wife was with me. Werner respected my skills. I hauled their freight. Had 20 years otr. There a huge company, hard to make friends with. Big dogs watch for Big dogs. Seasoned drivers are treated way better. How bad do you want it? Life is that way. Rail pressure is 80% don't scratch it.

@pattyj :just trying to find a entry level company that train driver.and seeing their truck in my area made me wanna look at them more in depth. But as a company to stick around I begin to see that their a entry level company bust to get your cdl and experience then move on after a year of service to them.
That's all I'm looking for. -
Look at my thorough thread about Werner, it follows all my experiences from cdl school rhrough training.

I am trying to earn my CDL, and I need help as to what steps are needed for me to take. I don't really have money, as I am currently working check to check, and barely making ends meet. I've heard Werner has CDL reimbursement, as well as a few others. I called PAM, i think thats right, and was set up with a "driver agent", and I am hoping that it will go good. When I called Werner, they gave me some 800 number, which led me to talking to a CDL school, that wanted around $4000 to start my training. I tried to reason, but in the end, it was a "call me back when you figure out what you want to do", sort of thing. I need advice, tips, help. Yes, I know that the career in trucking will be in a nutshell, long, hard, strenious, stressful, and sometimes fun, enjoyable and life changing. I am not a wimp, and I think, that if I can hang through bootcamp, I can hang through driving a truck lol. Again, any help would be great. If you want, email me. Ndittmer08@yahoo.com... thanks. (did I ask this question in the right spot?)

Is it pretty easy to get hired on with Werner as compared to some other companies? If they have such a high turn over rate im guessing they might be taking pretty much anyone (driving record & criminal history considered) knowing that a majority of the new drivers wont be around for very long anyway. Am I off base here or are they just the company that a new driver turns to when he can't get hired on with anyone else?
-
Yes, they pretty much hire anyone, even with criminal records. They'll even take you back again and again as long as you quit under good terms with them. Only thing to really worry about is 1 ticket for anything and your fired, probably cause of Werners CSA2010 score.

All trucking companies suck. They are out for money and screw the driver. Welcome to the world of trucking.
HappyHardCore Thanks this. -
Hard to say, only you know if it will be a good fit or not. I do the net-ops out of Omaha now but I am fed up and ready to move on. Some I would say is Werner and some just isnt a good fit for me. I wont go into the issues because there are too many to list here but I would say be VERY careful with this decision because I wasnt and it has driven me to the point where I hate going to work for them at all anymore so its time to go. I dont want to see the brand new guys quit from frustration etc because the first year can be very trying, it has been for me. I have only 14 months there, hopefully enough to move on somewhere else now. Good luck to you ......
