Ok... Swift is absorbing Central, and there are changes coming... One of them is the fuel system. Got a question for you L/O... Do you pay the pump price, or do you get a discount off that pump price? With Central we got a discount, and I can't seem to get a consistent answer from anyone if we will continue with that under Swift.

    Thanks :biggrin_2554:

I would think we will because it's based on network pricing and we're the biggest in the network now!!

Projekt. That's a lot like finding a better truck than a f350 ;) . At swift we get cash price swift takes the discount for the greater good of their "business partners" seriously. I am researching a few different fuel cards I want to get on my own. They seem to favor TA and ssmall mom and pops for a discount but anywhere is better than peelot

We get the cash price that is on the pump, but we can also fuel any where that we want, unlike the company trucks. What I am watching is what is going to happen with the pay. Keep ours or go to yours, if your web site is correct as to what you get per mile. Heard about the new FSC for you, and it does not sound good, if I understand it correct.

The real question isn't how much of a discount you get ... but how much are you actually paying for fuel?

People say they get 10, 20, 30 or more cents off of pump price. But that has absolutely no relevancy. What good is 30 cents off the pump price at the TA, when you can get it across the street for 40 cents less.

But to answer your question Swift gives no discount. But you can buy anywhere that accepts Comdata and the surcharge is only $.34 per transaction. Which begs the question. Does/did Central R have a transaction fee and how much is it? Is there a surcharge if you go off network or worse, were you limited to on network purchases only?

Average national price for #2 diesel last year was $3.92. My average price for the year was $3.72. Get the Fuel Book and Truckers Tools app for your phone.

Good to know there's concern on your side. Means you like what you have, I hope. Our fuel was pretty close to the same cost. The FSC was paid around $.21 for the year, all miles. But if you don't deadhead much then it doesn't really work out to benefit the driver... IMO. Our base is a little higher than yours from what I've heard tho, so they capped our pay!! Ugh, 2 years with no raise is gonna be a trial in itself.

These prices are for 1/21/14... Per the Swift web site fuel in OKC yard 3.56 ~ Pump price at the Loves (where we normally fuel) 3.72 ~ same Loves with the 'discount' we got through Central 3.38. So you can see the reason why I'm asking... That's a 0.34 difference from the pump price and 0.18 difference from the discounted Swift yard... Now the pay scale we will be 'grandfathered' in with is the OLD Central pay scale... Same flat rate miles and FSC on loaded miles only. Our FSC right now is 0.445/mile. The 'new' pay scale that some of the Central L/O have has a higher per mile flat rate, lower FSC amount but paid on ALL miles (loaded and empty). However if we are going to have to pay full pump price, that will dock our pay a BIG chunk of change!! Klingon estimated with the average gal/mo we fuel, it would be around $800-$900 more per month for fuel for us.
