A friend of mine started at ABF in 2006 then left in 2010 after being laid off for 1.5 years. In 2012 he decided to come back and reapplied. Hireright.com found that he had worked 3 days as a casual for Yellow in June of 2003. He had forgotten about his 3 days at Yellow and never put it down on the application either time. In 2006 they never found these 3 days of work but in 2012 they did. Hireright.com also found out that he had a DUI in 1987 that had been set aside which he was not putting on any application because he had obtained a driving records from the states that he had lived in and it was not showing on his record since it was set aside.

Huge kudos for not driving inebriated for 11 years? I'm genuinely sorry, OP- but c`mon.

One DUI is bad enough, five is...retarded...

Congrats to 11 years sober. That being said I believe we all deserve a chance for a new start in life no matter how old we are, we make decisions in life without thinking of how it might affect our future. As a truck driver you are classified as a "Professional Driver". Someone as yourself is looked upon as a repeat offender and/or an alcoholic. "Once an alcoholic always and alcoholic" they say. I would say its going to be hard to find a school or company that will take you. Not impossible though. Like I said I believe we all deserve second chances in life and its just a matter of proving it every day when your out on the road. I think in your case they should give you an opportunity to prove yourself while taking A/A classes while employed to retain your sobriety. Good Luck to you!

The biggest hurdle is gonna be insurance companies. They just see whats on paper. Congrats on you time sober, thats really great. But you may have tried to get into the wrong field. An honest school shouldhave tried to discourage you before you started. Im not saying quit searching by any means, but you may want to start thinking about plan b incase you cant find a job. Good luck to you!

Hiring him is one thing, getting him insured is the other.

I agree completely. If there is a bad accident the other side will find these 5 DUI's and any carrier defense will go out the window. Sad but true.

    Good luck....

There are people with 2 DUI's, sometimes 1 DUI, who cannot get hired onto any transportation company whatsoever: bus companies, courier companies, limousine companies, taxicab companies, and trucking companies.

How do you expect to get on with any of the transportation companies with 5 DUI's??

Also, if you were to get onto a trucking company with your 5 DUI's, would it be fair to the person(s) with 2 DUI's or only 1 DUI?? The person(s) might consider it absolute slap in their face(s). Could you live with yourself?? THINK ABOUT IT!!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
