The customer I'm delivering to doesn't have over night parking. So, as I'm pulling into the service plaza, on the Ohio turnpike, for my 10 hour break, my Qualcomm goes off with a preplann w/a. Good. I'm supposed to be home Thursday afternoon. This new load delivers outside Atlanta on Friday morning. If I'm lucky I'll get home Friday evening. Anyhow, the plus side is it'll jump this weeks milesup another 900 or so. I just wont come out of the house till next week, to compensate for getting home late.

Oh, I had bought a 12v electric blanket at the truck stop. Its too short to use as a blanket, so I put it under my bottom bed sheet. I made a big heating pad for my bunk. Not only does it keep me warm, it also GREATLY helps my sore back while I sleep. Works great for me. Maybe it'll work for y'all.

Well, I called in to put my name on the board. I was told to deadhead to Church Hill and stand by. While enroute, I received my w/a for a load going to Ontario for a Friday am delivery. However, this load doesn't even start loading until 1400 on the 22nd. So, I guess I'll be driving on the night shift. I know I just came out of the house, but this will only make 900miles for the week. Also, if iI'd known when the load would be ready, I wouldn't have left my home so soon.
On a different note, there's a recruiter from another carrier that keeps my phone ringing. I've got a lot of thinking to do. I had decided that I will use this time out to determine wether or not I stay. We'll see.

Well, I got my w/a for this week. I'm only gonna make 900 miles for this week. I guess I'm being penalized for going home? Anyhow, had to wait almost 24 hours for my "preload" trailer. Coming count of Church hill per normal, it was secured incorrectly. So I had to do it over. Typical. So then I hook to the trailer. Wait for it......wait..... yup!! Breakdown! Again. All turn signal lights on the left side are inop. And there was an amber side marker light inop. This is 9 out of 10 trailers. 90%!!
Guys really? 90% of all trailers I hook to need some kind of "attention."
Is this the "Maverick Way" I hear so much about. So I take it to a wing foot. Show the mechanic what's wrong, and yup you guessed it, now the lights are working. So I asked him to pull wires whatever to check it. They replaced the bad amber marker and called it good. I swear I didn't get 30 miles down the road and they went out again. As you know, driving through Virginia and West Virginia, your gonna be using your hazards while dragging up the mountains.
So by now its like 0100 or so. The snow starts falling and its cold. In the teens. I pulled into the service area at Buckley WV to park. Not gonna happen. That place was busting at the seams it was so full. So I creep up the road and find a small gas station/truck stop and shut down at 0220.
I get up and start my pretrip and none, zero, zip not a single light working on the trailer. So I send in a breakdown macro. Now I'm waiting for the road repair to come and fix it. Wow! 90% of the trailers I have hooked to. I wish Maverick would just assign each unit a trailer. I bet that would seriously cut down on the unreported damage.
I dunno guys. It feels like Maverick WANTS me to quit. I'm seriously considering it.

Look at the thread Average miles per week. Seems that the pulling flatbed are doing well most of the time. why don't you go flatbed?

Allllrighty then. Time for another update. The road repair mechanic came out to work on the trailer. Bless his heart its 17 degrees with at least 6" of snow on the ground. Long story short, this trailer is "jacked up." It needs to have the main wiring harness removed and either repaired or replaced. Remember, I'm under a glass load. So, the mechanic was saying I'll have to be towed, as there are zero trailer lights working. So I called my f/m to break the news to her that this load will not only NOT be on time, but that its possible it won't be delivered until NEXT WEEK sometime.
    Sighhhhh.......

LOL. Ya I guess I did already ask you that. It is messed up about the trailer. I thought I read somewhere in the Maverick forums that a macro was created or some type of message form was created so it you pick up a deadline trailer Maverick would be able to figure out who the last driver was and ask some questions. I don't know, someone like Serge or a couple of others may know more about this.

Its not always the last guy that had the trailer...sometimes, but not always.

I've been pulling the same trailer for about 3 years now (CNH division keeps the same trailer all the time)...

And the lights on mine were fine one day...and all sorts of messed up the next day...spent almost 2 days in a trailer shop in Wichita, KS this week getting it rewired.

The biggest problem is when they do fix the wiring on trailers...they do a half ### job of it...add winter weather to all that crappy splicing...and you get what you got....TROUBLE.

That's true for TA shops and Maverick shops...they don't take the time to fix it right, they just patch it up and send you on your way....do that enough times and it gets to a point that its too much of a mess to fix without rewiring it completely.

And the wiring harnesses on trailers is pure cheap junk...these RGN trailers cost around $60,000, the wiring harness ain't worth $5...cheap wire, flimsy connectors, nothing sealed from the weather, etc.

The trailers are #### near indestructible...but the wiring is not much better than would be found on a remote control toy.

I doubt the wiring on the flatbeds is any better...
