So i am trying to decide whether to go with a C-12 or C-13. I own a logging and firewood business and I typically haul 12 cords of wood anywhere from 10 to 100 miles. Thats about 70,000lbs of wood. I am wondering if thats too much for a C-12. It seems like people are shying away from pulling that much weight with a C-12. Although I have heard that those are some mighty little engines, i dont want to push it if it wont take it. I need advice, C-12 or C-13??

The C12's were single turbo vs series turbos on the C13's which offered improved response. We have a lot of loggers using C13's in Northern MN.

Yeah our c-13 just blew so just curious to see if a c-12 is doable with that much weight?? We are in northern minnesota!!

I haul almost 50k in a container with a mbl c12 pdi tune and turbo all around Minnesota. 3.55 rears and it pulls very very well. The pdi turbo is a bit laggy though and you have to shift around 1600 in the high range with a 10spd. It doesn't lug that well at all. Really really wish I had a 13 or 18 spd, it almost needs one.
In stock form it sucks to drive a tune is a must!
If I had to pull the 70k wood with my truck I wouldn't think twice. Just don't expect it to run 70 all day. -
I worked at a farm and all the trucks had c12's in them and we would run 80k all day everyday. One of the trucks had a 13 speed and the other trucks had 10 speeds. We had a tender trailer for our sprayer and that had 2 3,000 gallon tanks and when they were both loaded full with 28% it would be around 120k and it seemed to pull it fine as long as you didnt mind winding it out before you shifted and didnt go over 55.

C-13 doesn't last longer the c-12 does.
