Never had to deal with it myself but often wondered about this since I've heard about these "out-of-route" tickets. Is this for potentially and allegedly going around a weigh station?
-
DO you mean a ticket for driving the truck on a road thats not for trucks ?
I just went through a ticket nightmare a while back
If i recall it totaled out around $450 - $500 -
$500 is about the lowest fee an attorney will move for. Usually, it is worth the money. Make sure you follow up on it. They have a habit of collecting the fee and forgetting what they are suppose to do for you.

explain this "out of route ticket", please.
never heard of one.
Haz-mat route? -

Like I said I never met anyone who received one and would like to learn about it a bit more. I know of a place here in Florida that is infamous for issuing them. It's a back road location in the center of the state of which many drivers use to get around a certain scale on one of the interstates. DOT man, when he's on the prowl, has portable scales there and issues out-of-route tickets for drivers going around the scale. I've always maintained such a thing could probably be beat if presented properly in a court of law. Who is to say you can't take that back road to go to your favorite diner or roach coach out in the middle of nowhere? From what I've learned to date, the tickets can be issued for an OBVIOUS out-of-route scenario. For example, driver loads and leaves in one town located on the interstate and the delivery point is 150 miles north or south on the same interstate. A scale is located between the two points. Driver is 50 miles to the east or west of the interstate on back road resulting in an "out-of-route" citation.

That's what happened to me ( sort of ). Fine is $195.00. I'm trying to keep it off my record. That's where $ 500 lawyers fee comes from.
