Well just letting everyone know things are going pretty good in the Hot Shot business. You can make decent money here in Houston just running a truck with 9' flatbed. I'm so glad I made the switch from driving 18 wheelers to running my brand new 2013 Ford F350 6.7L. Plus my girl and kids like it way better this way with me being home every day. Cannonball is the company I contracted to and they are some good people.

Personally I think this is the best time to hotshot in the great state of Texas! The oil boom has these past few years have been God send! When I started I didn't have much experience in the trucking industry. The only experience i had was hauling cattle and hay during my high school years with my dad. after school I did the "college thing" and hit the workforce after graduation. luckily had a buddy that stayed in the cattle business and need a Owner Operator to help out with his new venture in the Eagle Ford. Luckily I jumped on the opportunity Bought a Ram 5500 11ft flatbed and left my other career behind! With the company I work for I keep 85% of the haul and 95% if it is through my contact. I grossed 70K my first year and 90K last year. Hopefully this year will be better! Always remember kickbacks are the key to success in this industry (Not to mention being on time and never turning down a load)! This last year for Christmas I dropped 5k on yeti coolers not to mention the countless Breakfast tacos and ribeye steaks! good luck on your new venture and God speed!

My fuel mileage is anywhere from 14-15.3 Depends on what I haul. This week I averaged 14.3 but I've been hauling some pretty heavy stuff all week.
