Congrats on passing with such a di-k for a tester. Personally, I would have told him you are not supposed to be in the left lane. I'm sure there's a parking spot in hell for such people.

hahaha! I don't drive anymore. this was a few years ago. but when I first came out of driving school .. yea that'd be true. but i did a month of training with us xpress & had a great trainer so i learned a lot. at first it was all foreign to me. i was 21 & had never driven a manual...

Testers will ask you to do things that are stupid or illegal. Don't do them. For example, per the OP, going to the left lane on I-84 in NY, climbing a hill, there are likely 3 lanes. Trucks aren't supposed to be in the left, as any trooper would be happy to inform you as he is writing out a citation.

I was real careful on my first road test. Failed because I drove to slow, did not demonstrate my ability to control the truck???

2nd road test, I was in a bad mood, they took us to a place with the worst narrow streets you could image. The first two guys flunked. I was in the "might as well have some fun" mood. Drove badly, stayed on the posted limit. Swung wide and fast though two narrow left turns and missed a curb by steering the cab though the foot of a parking lot. The examiner passed me and told me that's the best he'd seen any one handle a rig in a year.

Lets just say I'm beginning to understand why there are so many roll overs in Texas.

They KNOW all the testers in the state?

    Really?!?

You guys have a lot to learn, the road test is the second easiest thing you can do, the first is taking the written tests.

Remember that every day is a test, it sometimes gets very difficult and sometimes it is easy.

My examiner was a woman. I told her if she passed me, I would take her to dinner. Looking back on it she must have been a lesbian.
