Starting Orientation in two weeks in Charlotte, NC. Can anyone who has recently been through training give some insight on what is on the written test. Its been about a month or so since passing the permit, schooling and cdl license. What can I study up on to help prepare for the testing if anything. Thanks!

Its been a year but I dont remember a test right off the bat. Anything they test you on you will go over in class, more than once. They want you to succeed and will help you however they can. As long as you can pass the physical you should be good to go. The physical really isnt tough either. One person failed in my group but his resting heartrate was through the roof. Quite a few old fat people did just fine. Theres videos about it on their site. Good luck to you!

I forget what thread I was reading, It referred to a written test in the third week. @ Fester69 did you get tested on trip planning or just do it for practice?
-
Mostly I think it was just practice. The only real testing they did was called the sqt and it was week 3, after youve done a week in the trainers truck. They really do repeat what they want over and over, unless you sleep through class you shouldnt have any trouble.
Wanted to add, when we were doing the trip planning, we got into groups at the hotel and brain stormed. It seemed to help the guys who struggled a bit since they could see it through someone elses eyes and not just rely on the way the instructor explained it. Orientation wasnt a bad time, I was friends with most the folks by the time it was over. 9 outa 10 of the instructors were completely awesome, one was kinda a jerk but I didnt have to deal with him much. Expect the days to be long, but not bad. I think the first day was the worst, cause of all the paperwork.SippingDiesel Thanks this. -
the final written test is a trip planning test on week 3 thursday. You will have plenty of help to learn Schneider's way of trip planning. Pay attention to Mark while in class and ask Frank if you need extra help. Frank normally does a trip planning class on Wednesday night for people who need extra help.

computer based stuff. Most open book from "highway to success" if memory serves. but then again orientation was different for me. They seem to have changes how they do it not long after I came aboard. Also think the trip planning during sqt's was open book available too.

Open book and open notes.

What time in the morning does the bus pick you up and how long are the days, if you don't mind me asking!

The hotel shuttle starts going to the OC at 6ish, the day starts at 7 and runs until your instructor is finished for the day. typically around 5 to 6 pm. You get an hour for lunch.
Do NOT eat breakfast or drink coffee on tuesday morning week 1. You will want your blood pressure to be low for the pre work screening. -
And stay away from any alcohol. They will send you packing even if it was only at night.
