I'm graduating from ntts in April and i want to drive locally. I have narrowed my options to either nfi or arg. But sure if anyone's will give me an idea on weekly pay and benefits. It would be an hour drive for arg and either an hour or half an hour for nfi depending on the terminal. Thanks in advance
any current info about nfi and arg trucking in cny?

If it were me I would go with ARG and get some tank experience under your belt if you can. They pay alright but seem to have nice equipment these days. Some drivers take there trucks home as well. I use to be leased on with them out of the Rensselaer terminal a long time ago.

You'll have more choices in driving types (tanker and dry van) going with ARG, and probably a better chance to stay local. I applied to Wadham's after going through NTTS, but couldn't get hired because of their insurance requirements (I had one speeding ticket 20+ over the limit). I haven't heard anything negative about ARG, but I haven't heard much about them, period. I don't know about their pay package.
NFI was advertising about two years ago $900/week and home weekly, I believe, for work out of the Johnstown Walmart DC. I believe the pay for the Budweiser account is a little better than that now, plus the trucks are brand new. I wasn't aware that NFI was hiring new drivers, but if you can get on with them, more power to you. If I were you, I'd look at more companies than just two, especially those who don't send recruiters to the school. Good luck and godspeed.sparky88 Thanks this. -
I have been looking at lots. I have to stay local and know in the future i want to be an owner operator and do fuel. I talked to terpening but they want experience. There are a few companies i could try in oswego area but they don't pay very well and it wouldn't be tractor trailer. I figured those two seemed like one of my better options. An instructor here works at nfi and said they are taking students but one of my biggest questions for both is what the average weekly pay is so that i have a better idea. I know they pay mileage but since i haven't driven I'm not sure what mileage to expect and stops etc

Johnstown will be the Walmart DC (reefer), and Baldwinsville will be the Budweiser account.
To find out more about ARG, your best bet will be to hunt down a driver and ask. -
Thank you. Arg came in yesterday and pay seems good after training. I tried calling nfi but he hasn't returned my messages. All black i find it makes this week

Well i think i have decided on arg. With the party they offer and everything else it seems like a great local company that will fit my needs and future nicely. Wish i knew someone that worked for them so i could get some general questions answered. But overall i think i will be happy. App is done along with the predictive behavior assessment. So now just have to wait for graduation

Good luck to you. I worked with a Wadhams milk truck driver for a few years and my dad spoke with the owner a time or two, but I have no idea what they were paid and what the benefits were like. Everyone seemed pretty satisfied with the job, though. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help with the ARG side.

Well finally got some good info. Made my decision to go with arg. Couple of nfi drivers i talked to said they haven't been working full weeks for a little while which i can't risk since i have a family. The guy i talked to from arg said he likes and the pay is probably the best for a starter company since you get paid good for mileage and when the wheels aren't rolling you are getting paid hourly. So i graduate in April and should be with them by the end of April. When the time comes i will update on the pros and cons.
