Thanks flight watch, I will look into it. Elmwood (sos) staffing called me this morning to schedule an interview. Since I'm not in TX yet the lady told me to call her when I get into town. Things may just be looking up after all.

I found a decent livable trailer for $2000, but I was looking for months. Might try stopping by some of the local RV parks and seeing if anything is for sale. You may be limited in what you can tow by your van though. If your credit is decent, you can buy a small new travel trailer and the monthly payment is low(10 year simple interest). There are ultra light models that can be towed by an SUV or van.

I thought Florida would have cheap trailers. Look on CL for housing too.

I've been browing CL for places within a 100 mile radius of midland/Odessa, but man, so many of those ads are straight scams. CL is truly the wild west of classified sites! -
I don't think anyone mentioned this yet ...... Baker Hughes, Halliburton and Weatherford have new frac yards just south of San Antonio on I37 at the Elmendorf exit. Housing in San Antonio is more abundant and much cheaper than Midland/Odessa. Baker Hughes was advertising last summer for that area but would only consider local applicants, so you would have to move first or just give a fake local address until you relocate.

Had my fill of San Antonio at Lackland AFB...lol

San Antonio is a much nicer area to raise a family than midland/odessa imo. Does anyone know if all frac yards require their guys to live local? Or is there some kind of mileage radius they're allowed to reside in??
-
i just went on the baker hughes site, they have military recruiting positions available for field operator and others. It said multiple locations

Alot of yards in Pleasanton,Tx too. It is about 45 min south of san antonio... FracTech is out there, Pumpco, Nabors, O-tex pumping, IPS, and a water hauling company called Pinnergy which had a Now hiring CDL drivers banner out front last time i passed thru there...all these companies are withing a few square miles from each other. im sure there is other companies out there as well
