As you will see it is expensive, no real cost savings over idling if you have a newer truck, the air usually smells of cigarettes (I am a non smoker and it stinks), The TV channel selection is poor not really much better then regular tv, have to pay for better channels...
Not worth it in my book, unless you are in the middle of nowhere and can't get any TV channels and you want to watch TV and smell cigarettes..
Companies that allow idling or pay for idle air?

Yes you can threw a USB or wireless (wireless does not work 90% of the time, gets just past the point where you pay for it then it mysteriously stops working, have to call them to have them refund the payment)

They offer WiFi. -
Redo your math. A big truck burns about a gallon an hr idling. $4+ a gallon for fuel depending on where you are. $1.85 for idle aire is a savings of over $2 an hr.
As for the smell I always used a few squirts of Frebreeze in the intake when I first hooked it up. That always took care of the problem. -
Been looking for it but unable to find it (I have link somewhere, I think it is 05 and newer 07 and 08 even better) but newer trucks don't burn a gallon of fuel per hour, they only burn around .5 per hour..
Now with the inflated fuel price as it is, and the math as you stated at .5 an hour would be $1 an hr difference... (i didnt take into consideration over inflated fuel price of $4 so I give you that.. Although it is over inflated and should be on its way down.. matter of fact 1 min ago i just checked and it is "still" on its way down, how far? dunno)
By the way what year is your truck you are burning 1gal per hr at idle?
Cigarette smell...
I have tried everything. Freebreez and other guaranteed Oder remover items.. Never worked for me cause it is in the filter you cant get to by spraying in the vent..
So, I would have to ask sense you don't smell it after spraying, Are you a smoker? cause I am not and have not been for well over 20 years (yes i smoked in my teens) so I can smell cigarette smoke on anybody or anything.. Now don't get me wrong I am not against smokers and I think its fine for them to have thier little section to do it in.. My point is I can smell it and sprays just don't cover the smell for me..

Getting closer to the link, here is the EPA link for 2002 study that says average is 0.8 gallons of fuel an hour
New emission laws for newer engines required them to consume less at idle -
I drive a 2000 KW W900L with a CAT.
Call your truck dealer and ask them what a truck burns at 1000 RPM idle. I have and they said.............. figure a gallon an hr.
I've never smoked. -
Looks like all you'll need is a keyboard. But, you can also get on the net with their ethernet wire.

Other then old Macks, W900 is my favorite truck.. wish i had one..
Anyways i can't find the link, and I am going to give up on it.. 2000 ya you probaly would burn a gallon an hour, I could see where IdleAire would be a atractive option for you..
I am surprised you can't smell it... maybe it is just me but I can smell it on somebody's shirt across the room.. -
It's suppose to recycle the air from inside your own cab, but the last cab was that of a smoker, then you could have an issue. It's also suppose to be filtered, but the question would be, how often do they change filters?
I'll give them a try once I get out there. -
Great idea, but consider this: Truck never had a smoker in it, after Idle Aire, smelled of smoke. The two don't add up.
