    Newbie HW team here....

Trying to figure out the best way to outfit the rig with technology.

We are a husband wife team, so we will be rolling quite a bit, I think I want or need constant internet, television satellite radio and telephone technology, or at least as constant as possible

Any suggestions on companies and equipment?

Also CB and GPS advice and advice on any apps that are must have on the road.

    Thanks for the help!!

The Verizon MiFi will give you nearly constant internet while on the road. Using it 24/7 will get very pricey if you stream or download video.
Satellite TV is probably not an option since it has to be pointed in the right direction, and it's a big dish that you don't want the wind drag from.
Satellite radio is fairly reliable, as are cell phones if you are with the right company.

Buy the verizion mifi through millenicom get the same service much cheaper. (on the Verizon network) http://millenicom.com/plans/#hotspot-plan 20GB / month is enough for 66 hours of netflix every month or a whole lot of web browsing. If your teaming, just buy an inverter. If the truck is always moving, no scence investing in an APU. An inverter will allow you to run anyhtign AC while driving, including microwave, tv, etc. 1500-2000 watts should be sufficient. A diesel bunk heater is about a 1000 bucks and will keep you warm when you do stop. They make truck satalight dishs for trucks. http://www.dishformyrv.com/tailgater-bundle/ Not sure if it works while rolling though.

I vote Garmin Nuvi 7" trucker model for GPS (had that and Rand McNally and packed the RM away)

Shop around for Verizon bulk resellers like millenicom and look for 60 gig+ packages. Millinicom won't ding you for overages unless you make it a habit then they may cut you off or ask you to buy additional service (add'l plan)

With internet, you can watch a lot of "tv" and even stream local television broadcasts utilizing https://www.watchtveverywhere.com/index.php

So long as your within about 20-30 miles max of broadcast towers, HD telivision can be found over-the-air with an internal antenna. In ideal locations you can pull them in up to 50 miles away with a decent antenna.

Verizon- Absoltuely; wouldn't track out on the road without Verizon, they're simply the best when it comes to the coverage on their network, the speed of their data network and anything else combined- they plain kick the pants off their competition.
Satellite radio- is an absolute necessity to keep you from going insane in this day and age. Don't know how the old timers did it, don't frankly care. But if I drive 70 hours a week without listening to something, I'ma drive my truck into a house!
Sattelite TV- is worth getting, regardless. When you're sitting on a Monday delivery, and it's Friday afternoon, take yourself off a weekend and catch up on some boob-toobin fun! If you pay $500 you can get a vuqube that will automatically tack in on the satellites signal, while you're moving!

GPS is a great tool, but it will get you into trouble if you let it.
GPS with Google maps, shipper/receiver and company direction is a powerful combination that has never let me down in a position that I don't know the way.

It's 2014, it's time to start getting some tech in that truck!

PS- get few fridges and mount them on your top bunk, you can still roast a chicken on your turbo, in this day and age with a bit of tin foil, wire and some know how!

I use graboid for 20 bucks a month, unlimited down loading of almost any tv show, and movies. then watch when you want. an no stupid commercials. an net flix also but graboid is better, shows usually get posted the next day after airing. new movies are sometimes on before they are in stores.

Be careful when streaming movies on your devices. It will eat your data plan in no time especially if it's in HD.

Yea, dont watch HD. Netfix allows you to control quality in the settings. I have it on the lowest which is a max of .3 GB/ hour. Ont hat setting it still looks pretty good. I agree with the posters that Verizon is the best and dont go anywhere without verizion, just dont buy the mifi direct through them. You can buy the same mifi, that says verizion on the side and uses the v network from milinicome for much cheaper.
