Me neither. He's a better man than I for tolerating that. Of course, that's nothing a little electrical tape can't fix.

Stick with smaller companies,
They generally can't afford all the
NSA style surveillance equipment.
Large companies IMHO were the worst
to work for back in the day.
Total control freaks -
That is the one thing I know I will not like about driving truck over the road is #### micromanaging managers and companies...some of the posts I have read sound way to familiar back in my Army days..."so and so got a speeding ticket, or dui, or whatever, call everyone in for a class on speeding, etc...sgm wants an update by 1300...but its like 1245..."...I am responsible for my actions, not yours, or yours, or yours.....

This is probably the nost heavily regulated industry in the U.S.
Adding more regulation isn't the answer, because it will never stop. You wil not be able to have a cup of coffee, turn the radio on, adjust the heat/ ac. Sensors will be on the steering wheel, and if your hands move from 10 and 2, you will get a ticket. If you check your mirrors for longer than "they" say, you will be fired. You will not be permitted to sneeze or cough, only with a doctor's note. Eventually, when you stop, you will not be able to have a sugary treat or a cup of coffee, because scientific studies have shown that these substances pick you up, then let you down. SAFETY FIRST!! Chocolate and coffee will be as illegal as cocaine and heroin. If you squirm in your seat for any reason, you will be fired because you "impeded" your legs' ability to safely control the vehicle. And on and on and on...
This is the problem. Where does it stop?
I think that one of the best perks of driving is that you have a certain level of freedom. But adding rule after rule after rule begins to take that freedom away.
And no matter how many rules there are, there will always be people that exercise poor judgement. It's enough to have all these rules OUTSIDE of the truck, but leave me alone INSIDE the truck. -
I want to know more details before I join in on this topic.
I googled and found this http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...t-maintenance-worker-20140127,0,6960429.story I do not think this is the correct story.
Can you give more information? Talking on the head set may not have had anything to do with it. Was it in a state that out laws head sets? Most allow head phones but some do not allow any head sets at all.mje Thanks this. -
When I hired on at the dry bulk tanker company I'm at now, the DM tells me AS I'm SIGNING the no cell phone use policy in the handbook that he will "blow up" my phone if I don't answer it, I tested him the first couple of weeks, and he did literally call me until I answered it. Clearly a policy put in place to cover the company's arse. I worked briefly at CTI, a subsidiary of Kenan Advantage and they had the same cell phone policy AND a no CB policy as well. At that time they only had the outward facing cameras but did have plans to install the driver facing ones as well. Don't let anyone fool you into believing that because a company runs e-logs that they run legal......
mje Thanks this. -
You know everybody says there going to quit, but the reality is very few do. The cameras are set to turn off when you set your tractor valve.
After they have been in for a while driver adjust.
I do not like them, I would suggest if there was an accident take the camera with you, as to where it went, hmm good question.
As far as cellphone with headsets I personally think they improve the safety in most situations. If you have so little concentration as that maybe you should be driving at all.SlowPoke44magnum and mje Thank this. -
