Do you mind other drivers idling next you at the truck stop

In a few months I'll be building myself a new computer to replace the one I sold..a few months ago. It'll have a 650w power supply and probably a 25-30" LEDTV for monitor. Probably going to buy an apu at the same time lol.

Personally, I liked having my truck turned off when it was 50 to 70 outside.

I don't like to ideal so that is why I like an apu. It is very hard for me to sleep, and I mean very. I use to take ambien but that drug is evil. It doesn't bother me if someone else is next to me and is idling. It does bother me if I am idling. I worry that I am bothering someone else and the worrying keeps me from sleeping.

I think as truckers we all understand what the others are going through. If you just show some kind of consideration, we can put up with a lot. You will see that the reefer guys seem to park together if they can.

In the service they put you in bunks and alternated which direction your head was so that the people next to you did not breathe in the same air. Maybe if truckers alternated nose in and tail in it would work better. Because they do not. It must not be a big problem.

 

drivers complain about reefers, bullhaulers, apu's , blah blah blah...if y'all are so sensitive and want the perfect situation, maybe you need to be self employed and work from home....so many complaints about COMMON things is trucking, that is just part if it.....y'all serioulsy need to see a doc about some type of pms pills....maybe take a midol and call me in the morning.....truck drivers are like a bunch of gossipy whining old women...sheesh.....MYSELF EXCLUDED..... and no..i dont need someone to "fix" my post either....

 

I agree its the business we are in. Except it or get out as a man once told me. I knew about the pitfalls of trucking way before getting in. Things like you get paid per mile, the gripe of having to do a lot of work you aren't paid for gripe burns my hide. I knew that you sleep in a truck and any body could park next to you, they are tired and need sleep too. Those are just the tip of the iceberg, what gets me is how many people choose this as a career and don't know squat about whats its like how do you do that in this age of technology.

Yes I know we are like a bunch of gossiping ol bitties, but that to is part of the business we are in lol.

 

Idling only ever bothered me in window weather. I like having the breeze blow through when I sleep.

In a crowded TS, it's just part of the deal. I always try to find a quiet space, or at least a spot on the edge where I can open the windows on one side, but in the end you take what you can get.

The only time I've ever been angry is when I parked late at the Walmart in Lamar, CO. It was a gorgeous, breezy 50 degrees out, and I had just come up from 3 hot weeks in TX, FL, and LA. Just as soon as I lay down to sleep, another driver pulled in, surveyed the entire empty parking lot, and pulled up right next to me. Not only did I have to listen to his idle, but his compressor kept cutting in AND he managed to block the breeze. I thought about emptying my air tanks through the horn, but eventually just moved to another area.

 

he/she might have been scared and lonely and just had park to next to you.could have had a crush on you and wanted to park window to window so he could sit there and look over at you and watch everything that you do and vice versa.

Well said! If the noise bothers you, try getting some ear plugs but make sure you keep the alarm clock real close so you don't oversleep.

 

A similar situation happened to me at a truck stop one time. The lot was entirely empty in the back where I was parked, and it was a big lot. Then, this guy parks right next to me and idols. Do these drivers do these kinds of things deliberately?

 

Never fails when you nose in so as to get a good night sleep some mutt with a peterbuilt noses in right beside you high idle on his rig all night.
