just a quick note here @ Randy and Farm to Market Roads (ex FM 2124.) mine is also in LOVE with them. ran from Granbury Tx to Amarillo Tx and back yesterday as a favor (personal time driving a f-350 pulling and empty 12 ft box trailer.) routed me fine on the way up. all either us hwy or state hwy on the way up. on the way back it was humming right along just reveresed the route... till i pulled into a parking lot to have a smoke... backed out pulled back on the hwy and it was da** determined i was going to take a FM road. pulled over changed hwy settings, nope. changed shortest/quickest nope. said not to use "small roads" nope. so just said screw it and went back how i came. i passed the FM road it wanted me to and it re-routed back to the original way.. seems taking that farm road was going to save 3 miles.
now that note @ FM roads in Texas.. Most are weight restricted to 58k. i've seen some as low as 54k. my rand is set for LOADED and TRUCK mode. why the he** it wants to send a loaded truck down a restricted hwy i have no clue..

I've had mine do that a couple times. Where it's just determined that the route it's set on is the best. I can detour a couple times and find a much faster route but more miles. Don't make sense.

Roads in the map database are build as segments. That being said, each segment contains a breakdown of many different parts of that road, such as weight, direction, type of road, etc, etc. The way going back to you looks like the same road. To the Database it is entirely two different parts to that road. The database may have the right restriction one way, but not the other way.
Can you give the general location of where you stopped and the road that was causing the issue?
Thanks,
Mark -
lol, i KNEW you were going to ask me for that. i'll recreate it tom when i get to work.
just curious to what may have triggered it re-routing in the first place. i pulled @ 20 feet off the road way and stopped for @ 10 minutes. backed out of the parking spot and as soon as i pulled back on the road it re-routed to the FM road. dunno.
even with it's quirks like this still think it's the best gps on the market even if just for the POI information.
once again Mark, thanks for your time. -
Hard to say, but probably stopping and it sensed GPS movement again.
Thanks,
Mark -
You can try giving the dc end that plugs in the unit a gentle squeeze with pliers to make it fit tighter. Also try wrapping the cord around the neck once to remove pressure off the plug. Be careful when squeezing the end it can break easily. Gentle pressure is all that's needed.

I tape my power cord to the dash to hold a tight fit on my 510
the 110 power cord gives me less trouble then the 12 volt
I have not updated this 510 since I bought it a year ago
only had to reboot system once
but I see more mistakes because of no updates
Is the system upgrade docking pretty straight forward
I am old and stupid and hate looking confused
don't even have a smart phone yet -
Yep. Plug it in to the PC,open the dock and hit update. Then hit transfer to unit.Mark Kling Thanks this.

I guess I can do that
