I'm wanting to get a sirius/xm radio. I drive a volvo with a stock volvo stereo, am/fm/cd. How do the sirius radios hook up to the existing radio when there arent any auxillary jacks?
Thanks.

Through a radio channel you set the truck radio on. Like 88.5 or something like that. It has instructions with the radio.

I guess you just set the fm on a certain channel and there it is? That's too easy. Thank you.

You can set a radio to a channel and the xm will come through that channel. It works best at 88.9 or some channel # that doesn't have anything going on it.

Most radios now have Aux In Port.
Muuuuch better option.
And if you don't have an Aux Port, get a radio that has one.
The FM Mod works great in the middle of Texas. I had issues with it in LA area.
But yeah haven't used the FM thing for years. -
Any recommendations on which sirius radio works best?

They all work the same, Go with the cheapest one if you don't need to record and all that jazz..
Also I would invest in a player with an AUX port, otherwise you will most likely be changing the settings everytime you come within range of a radio station operating on the same one you have your Sirius set up for... It's a pain in the butt -
Look at some of the features and find one that has ones you like.
My first XM Radio had 30 minute Pause/Replay that was really nice.
Oh and bigger is better, I like being able to see the Song/Artist at the same time.
Actually it's really frustrating, using the in dash radio right now. -
Love my XM Radio (only thing that would thrill me about Sirrius is the NFL channel comes with a straight package, with XM it is an add on that cost extra). If you have access to Auxiliary jack that IS the best way to go because there is no interference at all. With FM signal setting you can run a certain channel (i.e.- 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9 etc...) and once you get a "terrestrial" signal that over powers your XM receiver, you're changing channels constantly from city to city.

Intergrated is the key word. If it says Sirius/XM ready it requires a little more stuff for it to work.Last edited: Jan 31, 2014
