Just wanted to ask some experienced flatbedders what they carry for straps and chains.

    I carry 16-4" straps, 8-2" portables and 12-5/16" chains.

I am going to add 4 more 4" winches to my trailer. I use every strap I have quite often with what I haul.

For straps I carry 18 4 inch straps, 6 or 8 2 inch ratchet straps, 4 4 inch ratchets. 2 stake pocket winches. It's a bit over kill but straps will get cut, so I like to have extras and not have to buy the 300 percent mark up ones at a truck stop.
For chains I have 8 grade 70 5/16 chains 24 foot long. And 4 3/8 16 footers. 12 snap binders and 4 ratchet binders. I hate ratchet binders but those snap binders can be dangerous if you are in a big hurry and not paying attention. Got my jaw broke and half my teeth shattered from one when I was 15. Lemme tell ya, it sucks having to cut corn off the cob in order to eat it.

Now that's the understatement of the decade. Seriously, respect those binders. They can put a hurting on you. And replace them when they start to wear out at the pins. A worn out binder will pop open. And always waits till you are walking by to do it.

I only haul wood and insulation on my deck so I only have 16-20 4" straps on the trailers I use and I keep a few spare 4" straps under bunk and a few 2" ratchet straps under the bunk as well. I have a few chains and binders on my truck just incase but have never used them YET..

Yes they can. I know of a guy missing an eye and an eye socket from a binder.

    I carry:

8 3/8" ratchet binders with the folding handles with 10' grade 70's to match
4 1/2" ratchets with the folding handles, chains to match
6 2" ratchets with the rub rail hook
4 2" ratchets with the equipment hook

Fixing to buy 8x 2" ratchets with the car hauling clusters on the ends

Also have 2 4" straps and portable winches for them, if I was still stepdecking or flatbeddin full time, id have about 14 4" straps on me.

Lots of edge protection gear, old carpet, old 4" straps cut up, pieces of old mudflap.

Also shackles are a good thing to have.

I also try to keep a roll of tie wire in the truck and some fencing pliers, as well as zipties, lots and lots and lots of zipties.
