My situation was similar and Schneider bulk (tanker) had no probs with it. Dunno what your misdemeanor is, but if its not a bad one, you should be fine.

one thing I did tho, was list an 'established' place I worked part time during my unemployment. I only worked there maybe 5 days in the prev year. I called everyone I listed and gave them a heads up. I don't even know if Schneider called them, I talked to those employers since, but forgot to ask them.

I also called Schneider first (before applying) to make sure I didn't have any disqualifiers. One app, one job (already had my search narrowed down to them)

As for the DUI, Schneider will just flag you as not being able to go to Canada.

Covenant Transport will hire you as long as your heart is still beating.

Anyway, companies are going to have to take into account that since Obama has been president, his Marxist economic policies have caused the lowest labor participation rate in the country since 1978 when Jimmy Carter, another delusional Marxist, was president. Marxism inevitably fails every time it is tried, but don't tell that to a Marxist, they will laugh at you and call you crazy. In addition, a low labor participation rate inevitably also means falling wages, as wages are a product of supply and demand like everything else. When supply outstrips demand, wages don't have any other choice but to fall. Thank you Obama. Meanwhile, Obama and his Marxist acolytes are doing a full court press to pass a minimum wage increase, which when compounded with our higher health insurance premiums and astronomically higher insurance deductibles ought to doom any economic growth for the foreseeable future.

IN UTAH. you pay $10 and submit fingerprints and application. wait 30 days for letter. go back to BCI with letter. they give you a paper. take that to the court that handled your case. pay the filing fee. and give a copy to court, prosecuting attorney, jail, police dept. BCI. and you keep one. wait 30 days, pay $10. submit finger prints. you get a clean record handed back.

$85 is what is was when i did mine. all on my own. but that was a few years ago. price may be higher now.

Did you have a plan going in on who would hire you? Starter companies will hire you. Did you go to a private truck school and not CRST or England etc.Try May,USA,US XPRESS something like that.Is the problem that the 2 years unemployment cant be verified by a buddy willing to vouch for you? or just the fact of the not being unemployed? DUI and the street fight or whatever the mild misdemeanor was will show on the criminal background check. Its all been over 10 years ago so it shouldnt matter. Some starter company should hire you. My problem with you is that you have a "small misdemeanor" and then unemployed. It makes you look lazy. What you need to do is commit a real crime and be a felon like myself. Crime is not something that you do half way.

The companies do not care that you were Un-Employed. They are required to verify your past 3 years and ten years of driving. So give them a letter from someone you know stating they knew you to be unemployed from this date to that date. Many people in this Nation are unemployed. The fact that you are wanting to work is a good thing not something to be ashamed of.

As to the companies to apply for, you are getting good advice. I would also PM Chinatown and get him off his lazy retired a ss and have him get you a list.

We welcome you to the world of trucking. Don't let your self image keep you from demanding good wages and benefits. When one of us works cheaply, it hurts us all.

If you didn't read this post that is quoted above you need to read it again. They DON'T CARE if you were unemployed for 1 one year or 10 years.

even if you get it expunged the conviction and court records may disappear but the arrest will still be floating around out there. That will lead to questions
