Let's see the highlights as I recall: Pay the trainers wages, Pay for all the fuel, Pay Equipment Rental. These were specifically noted with no estimated value. I speculated in the Thousands. All if for any reason not to their satisfaction you leave prior to 1 year OR if they terminate you prior to 1 year. There are a gazillion reasons why to leave a company prior to 1 year. This contract, like the many Lease/Fleece scams, give a company financial reason to starve a driver out prior to 1 year. Only an idiot would sign such a Contract. You do realize your posts keeping me posting just keeps bringing more light to this matter. I am sure Windy Hill would prefer it not be public knowledge. Now when I read the Contract it was March of 2011. I have no way of knowing if they are still doing this. Perhaps a recent applier can chime in. I do know they never should have been doing it.

Windy Hill is probably glad they don't have an outhouse lawyer like you working for them. Why not move on to another subject like companies that pay per diem..tell the driver that starting wage is .28cpm but they will only be taxed on .18cpm and then kicked back .08 cpm tax free..whoops...where did the other 2 cents go? That company's pocket!!!!

Or how about those companies that offer a sign on bonus. Read the fine print there. Leave a company early and not only do they take back the money they already paid on the sign on bonus, but they also take the cost of transportation to get to orientation, the lodging it cost during orientation and any meals they may have bought the driver. But by all of your many years of driving a truck, you seem to know it all.

Choosing to be personally abusive with your comments, you have earned ignore status. After interacting with thousands of TTR posters, you are only the 3rd to earn this distinction. Good Luck finding others to share your views on Windy Hill's Contract Bologna.

What's the matter? Can't find anything else to talk about other than a training contract?

Once you get to Marshfield and meet the folks you will be working with, the contract won't loom and you'll be satisfied with you decision! Stay safe out there!

I have to ask this since I'm not seeing these contracts on their website, which I guess I probably wouldn't put out there either just in case but... Are all new drivers asked to sign some type of length of service contract or is it just for newbie's??? I've been around this industry for a long time and other then going through a companies school or similar I've never seen or heard of anything like this???
Their scores aren't terrible, not great either and you have to call for pay so I can't comment on that but I've seen their trucks on 75/4/95 and probably an awful lot of other places and they don't look too bad, seems they were slower then I was running but that's getting to be more the norm these days... ( no I wasn't flying low but...) I guess I'm just wondering what all they do to decide if they would ever be a prospective for me...

    Thanks for any info!!

A student coming out of school will sign a 1 year committment, an experienced drivers does not. It is the cost of training, some will come in and get their training and then go drive for a friend, brother, uncle whatever. As far as calling in for pay, that's incorrect, someone doesn't have all thier facts. Paperwork in office by 5pm Monday-paid for that Friday. The only time a driver has to call in for money is for a lumper or a cash advance larger than what they can get their comdata card.
