Of course I'm an 1099 through Landstar but I have to ask this question, When paying my taxes do I need to subtract anything such as Fuel, Maintenance Cost, Etc from the total of my income for 2013? In other words, do I just pay on my profits? First time filling this way...
O/O Taxes

Landstar will issue you a 1099 with total income earned
then its up to you to list all the deductions/business expenses
e.g fuel, repairs etc. you would then pay tax on the net
so gross - deductions/expenses = net

I would suggest seeing a accountant if you are unsure of how to file correctly. You may wind up paying allot more then what is needed. There is depreciation assuming you own the truck/trailer, allot of things you can claim. When in doubt ask a professional!!
