I read somewhere on here that you have to drive for a year for a company to pay for your training if they are the ones that schooled you. If i quit after that year, and took the next year off, would i have trouble getting a new job later on? and when i do get the new job how long should i drive before i quit it, so i can go spend my money again?

Why would you quit for a year after a year Anyway should be able to. Some company's say so many months in the last year or so.

I've been on that plan for 5 years now. Almost. started 0207.left 0409 for 6 months. was rehired by same company.left 0210 came back 1010( bought a tractor). Took off again 0412-back 0912. Will be gone again 0413. tilllllll....

It helps marginally that I own the tractor. keep your record clean of the major stuff...and some company can use your efforts.

Not wanting to show my age but the author J. D. McDonald wrote a series of books about a private detective by the name of Travis McGee. He took his retirement in installments like you are proposing. It worked out wonderful for him and he got all the hot babes.

As I remember, they were in the fiction side of the library. Good luck. You can do it.

That is what I have been doing since 2009 and never had a problem finding a job until the end of last year when my record got screwed up. I only worked 5 months in 2013 and I saved more money then I would have working a whole year at any minimum wage paying job for sure and once I get my tax refund, I will be looking great. Not in a hurry to go work for any bottom feeder companies that want to pay 34 cents per mile or less so I might take off until April 2015 when my record will clear up (I just have to be sure I keep my recent experience, 1 year in the last 3)
