ANYTHING that resembles advice will be greatly appreciated (what to bring, what i should buy before i get there, what size luggage piece, etc) any and all practical info..... i've tried to give good help info over the last year.... and now its time to ask for some myself, and yes I use the search feature: I'm just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything- - considering im a local guy thats never trully been OTR (running down to SoCal a few times doesnt count since my old job has a diesel pump in the yard so i didnt even have to hit a truck stop)
Please refrain from the jabs at western express- due to bad/dumb/irresponsible choices on my part, this is it for me for the time being
Thanks in advance guys/gals
Off to Western Express for flatbed orientation....

Best of luck to you and many safe miles.
superpet39 Thanks this. -
Did you talk to somebody in the safety department to make sure there will be no hiccup's once you get there?

Forgot to add.... I'll update this thread to answer any questions, but it won't be like the usual threads that detail every detail of this experience: main reason being I hate to type........... Not to mention I'm a more direct- to the point type of guy..... but for anyone that has any questions: I'll be MORE than happy to answer them.

Super someone brought up a good point in making sure you GRILL your recruiter BEFORE you leave because WE is famous for getting you to orientation and then checking you out as a driver. That's part of the reason I sat in the hotel for 8 days after orientation waiting for a truck, they hadn't done all the necessary background/DMV/past employment check they should have done before I left for orientation. WE was my first OTR type job too. I'd pack like a big duffel bag with a week to 10 days worth of clothes. Also bring personal hygiene stuff, gloves, boots, gps if you have one or road atlas, pillow, blanket and sheet for your bunk. Don't forget a blank check because nothing else will work for direct deposit. Spending money
