Powerstroke-Thanks for the support! I was really starting to think I would have to start with a less than desirable carrier and have to really search the nation for someone to take me with my past driving history.
I'm not going to hold my breath but it's looking really good and if it works out i'll be with a company that is here in St.Louis and i'll be attending a CDL school 15 miles from home, so that would mean i'll be home every night after class and no sketchy bug infested hotels or dorms 100's of miles from home and home cooked meals for the duration of my schooling!! -
Ok I'm confused

I doubt that the DUI 14 years ago is the issue, but the refusals? thats the problem, try and get these off your record

You will have a problem finding places as everyone from St. Louis thinks there from New York City.
I am glad you found a place to get a start out in this business. There are no prefect truckers but we all are trying to become better. You know you have a weakness so you have an idea of what you need to do to avoid it. By having a CDL your blood alcohol legal limit is cut in half. .04 is your limit. 1 beer period and then, let someone else drive. Never drink within 12 hours of going on duty. Rules say 8 but give yourself extra room.
My real worry is that you start hanging around the wrong women again. So to be safe, post a naked picture of any woman you are hanging around with. If she lets you take it, then you know you are hanging around with the wrong woman. -
Wooly, Not sure what you mean about being from New York? I now have a good woman who has a really good job and 2 beautiful daughters, I made a few bad decisions quite a few years ago and have never had a weakness for the booze!
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Interested in hearing where you are in your quest about now.

Just an idea I just came across; "Its a 10-week program that costs $3,200. Books, a physical, and a drug test are included in the tuition fees. Students can apply for a $1,000 need-based scholarship, but only after they have completed the program."
