Tripac, I'm sorry, I should have said seems odd to me but no, you did nothing wrong and you do not have to defend yourself here. If I was working there, I might of inquired what you were looking for and let you go on your way. If it rocks your boat and doesn't bother anyone else then have a blast!
if some graveyard shift truck stop flunky wants to accuse me of stealing, I'm telling him to call the cops. I ain't no saint but I try to be fair and honest. The mistake you made was arguing with a moron. Now, I'm not lumping all late night TS employees into that boat but it looks like you ran into a winner. It's like arguing with a drunk, they never see reason. To heck with them. Go live your life, read whatever label you want and be happy. Karma will take care of them and you my friend!
Warning to all about a certain TN truckstop

I worked overnights at Walmart for 7 years. Nothing at 3 am ever surprised me. Not the lady dry humping herself with a tube of ground beef. Not the guy who decided to relieve himself in a floor drain in the back room. Nor the drunk guy who fell into a bunk freezer.
cabwrecker, TriPac Dude and Bandaid Thank this. -
wait a minute you were reading the specs on the fridges stocked with items, not just the ones for sale on the shelves.
you got to understand , you were in Tennessee, and the local hvac man aint that interested in refrigeration, they probably had a rash of pepsi burglaries lately, and boom there you were, all up in the coolers reading the operating labels.
you got to admit, coming back for round 2 at 6am , they figured you might have been casing the joint for a 2 liter.camaro68, WorldofTransportation, RW89 and 5 others Thank this. -
OMG! This is the funniest story ever! RLMFAO. Was thinking the same thing!

Wrong... if they think they saw you do something.. they can corner you all they want... The problem is when they won't let you leave... If this ever happens again pull your phone out of your pocket and call 911... Tell them you are afraid you are being abducted at Wilco location... and exit number on interstate.. I guarantee they will let you go instantly... and if not.. when the cops get there they will be in trouble.. They can't hold you against your will.. and if they touch you it is assault.(if you didn't steal anything).... I worked for years in retail as a younger man and if I saw you steal something I couldn't confront you until you passed the last possible place to pay for it due to the fear of a lawsuit...
In fact call a lawyer.. you never know some of these ambulance chasers might take the case pro bono...
question... You were in the cooler? if so you are a nutjob... quit being weird...NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Being Tennessee you should have led them in a round of "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens.

Actually heavyhaulerss, he's probably telling the truth. If you learn about Asperger's Syndrome, which the kid said he has in an earlier post, you'd find that a common effect is an extreme difficulty in lying. I have a grown son with Asperger's and he is incredibly awesome and he doesn't lie, steal or pretty much any other immoral or illegal kind of thing. We all have a sense of right and wrong and an inclination to do right over wrong. With Asperger's think of that sense of right and wrong and inclination toward doing right being on mega steroids!
He was also correct in that folks with Asperger's often have odd seeming interests and anything that's worth doing is overdone and obsessed over to the Nth degree. I have an adult son with Asperger's and fortunately he has been able to use the personality traits and tendencies he has from Asperger's to his advantage. He's doing really well and I have lots of hope for him (however, he still has a very difficult time managing other aspects of his life, there are downsides too).TriPac Dude, NavigatorWife and magoo68 Thank this. -
MS has concealed merchandise as theft if you are in the store, this was in effect in the early 1980's.
