If you can back a gooseneck that size no problem with a big truck, same principal just takes a little more room, I've beenaround trucks my whole life and been a driver starting with a 20 foot flatbed bobtail science I was 16, I still get out and look don't be afraid to get out and look, take your time or pull forward as many times as needed, every little incident goes on your record and CSA score, after 19 years of driving my cdl is completely clean and my CSA is 3. I think you would enjoy pulling a tanker in that area. If they hire newbies go for it. If not, go dry van for a year and then switch to tankers. You might look for food grade (non-hazmat) tankers to start. Chinatown is pretty good at finding the right outfit.
Tankers probably pay the best with the least amount of work and headache. I pulled chemical tankers regionally for a year. When my flatbed sits too much, or when I'm tarping in really cold or really hot weather, I often think about how easy I had it being a tanker yanker.wanna_drive Thanks this. -
My cousin has been driving a tanker for enterprise 15 years and loves it. He started out with a flatbed, but after parasailing off a trailer while tarping, switched to hauling chemicals. You all have helped me resolve questions and taken time from your day to explain things and it is greatly appreciated
