I was fired from my job because I was caught falsifying my log books. This carried a bad score for CSA. I was also fired, even thought the company gave me a hot load from NJ on Fri to be in WA on Monday. This is impossible to do legally. Well anyway, I was caught, fired and now can not get a good driving job. Does anyone have any ideas? Who would hire me? And can the company that fired me put this as a reason to be fired?

The insurance company that covers the trucking company will say Hell No! every time your record comes up. Unfortunately there are other drivers with clean records applying for the same jobs.

Put the shoe on the other foot; . . .

You are a trucking company owner and a driver with your CSA score and record approaches you for a job, are YOU gonna hire you? It sucks but you made a dumb decision and a very dangerous one. Maybe a local delivery job. Good luck.

Aww I'd give him another attaboy. If I was a company I probably wouldn't hire him though, or more accurately be allowed to by the insurance company. It doesn't matter at this point but you need to let your dispatcher know if you can't make a delivery in their given timeframe. I don't know the severity of that offense but I imagine it's right up there with abandoning equipment. Nothing personal we all make mistakes but some have more severe consequences than others.

After 41 years, you got CAUGHT once, but how many other times did you run illegally? That question sinks you, because there's no way to answer it to anyone's satisfaction. The company may have offered you a stinker load, but YOU are the one who took it, and you can't even claim not to have known better.

About your only option to stay on the road is to hit up the bank, get a loan (based on your long experience), buy a truck and trailer, and go gypsy.

However, with your experience, call around the companies in your area and try to find a non-driving job. Be straight about your violation, and see if anyone needs a terminal manager or something.

    Seriously?

16yrs xp... and thats your take? I could see a response like that from newbies.

I cant think of a single day in at least 2 yrs that I havent felt the need to 'correct' something on my logs.

I'd take a wild guess and estimate 95% of folks who use paper logs exclusively, do so because it leaves room to get done what otherwise could not be done.

Stripped of his freedom? So just lock him up eh? I dont think I've ever met anyone so self righteous.

Personally I think there is more to the OP's story. But I'm not going to bash the guy for trying to get the job done.
