thats not always the case. I saw a guy pulling a baby wide load on a step , load was about 4 ft tall and looked like frames.
Well he had mirror extensions that must of been wider than the load itself. :biggrin_255:

Some people are afraid of clowns and spiders, and some are afraid of barriers and construction barrels.

I got no beef with clowns of barriers...construction barrels, I LOVE bouncing them off of tracked machines!
Its always cool when your big enough they shut down traffic and you centerline the candlesticks...

If a freight hauler can wiggle all over the road and get thru a construction zone then you can get a 10-11' load thru there no problem.

Speaking of is it worth it...Oscar--what are you thinking about your move to your current outfit, and the type of work you are doing?

So far it has been the best decision that I have ever made in this business. My miles are way down from what I was doing, some of that is due to the time of the year and the weather. But my overall per mile is up more than enough to offset the reduced miles, and increased fuel consumption. I am very optimistic at this point of the up and coming busy season. I have not been maxing out my current setup on weight yet, so I have not been into the rates that my truck is capable of getting.

Glad to hear. Seeing your exploits on here, it looked like you made a good choice of companies, jumped in with both feet, and found a really great fit. Congrats!

I unloaded in Reno, stacked up and hung out til I found a load...the freight hauler parked beside me was lookin over the wagon tryin to fugure it out, he looked confused...
    ...Hammer...
    How's it goin?
    ...freighter...
pretty good, uh how do you get it all put up there like that?
    ...Hammer...
forklift, crane, excavators, whatever...sometimes tow trucks
    ...freighter...
how do you keep it from falling off, where's the rest of it?
    ...Hammer...
we call it a "rail", most down here call it a "beam". It's for goin between tracks/wheels etc to keep overall height down. Just block it and pick it, no big deal. I've hauled 28' wide on it, it's an acquired skill based on understanding how it works..
    ...freighter...shaking his head
THAT sounds like too much work!
    ...Hammer...
that's why they pay us the big bucks. And why I've been waiting a week for a good load to make it worth the "work"
    ...freighter...
huh, you got a load then? I wouldn't wait a week for a load!
    ...Hammer...
yup, just booked one. Gotta bounce over and load it next Monday
    ...freighter...
its Tuesday, your gonna wait til Monday to load? You just waited a week.
    ...Hammer...
I said I gotta bounce over to get it, I won't get there til Fri/Sat
...freighter...dumb confused look on his face
    What? Where is it?
    ...Hammer...grinning from ear to ear
You wouldn't believe me if I told you...
    ...freighter...
    c'mon man, give it up...
    ...Hammer...
    Winston-Salem
    ...freighter...
    NORTH CAROLINA!
    ...Hammer...still grinning
    You know another one?
    ...freighter...
c'mon, your full of $h1t! Ain't no way you or me would ever run empty across the country!
...Hammer...handing his phone with the email open over
    wanna see the email?
    ...freighter...reading over the email
is THAT REALLY what your getting paid to haul it!
    ...Hammer...
    Shh, that's our little secret...
    ...freighter...shaking his head dumbfounded
I think I'm doing something wrong
...Hammer...as I start to get back in the saddle
Remember, it's "too much work" and you "wouldn't wait for a week"...and I'm running "across the country" to get it...have a good one...I forgot to ask him if he thought it was worth it or not...hmm, I wonder...
