Thanks for the info. As of now I am just thinking of what to do and am going to call around tomorrow.

Is Florida not a good route because everyone wants to run to/from Florida, or no real work there?
-

Could somebody educate me here. I used to always think the guys doing the pickup truck car trailer thing were doing it so they would not need a class a license. You need to have the "A" for a trailer over ten thousand pounds. I would have to imagine a three car load and trailer would be over 10k. So what is the advantage of using this equipment as opposed to using a regular tractor and a six or seven car trailer? You make more money each car, so I'm just trying to figure out why bother with the light duty truck trailer setup. Just curious.

I don't follow that info because I have a cdl. But the guys who run with out one have a hard time because they need light loads.

Running hotshot is all about fuel mileage, the idea is to load high paying light (ltl) freight, so as to get full truck rate and only spend $$ on fuel rather then $$$ , so at the end of the week the paycheck is higher.

Since you're in Florida, feel free to pass some tips along in a PM if you would

First of all, you need a Class A when the trailer is over 10,000 gvwr and the combined gvwr of the truck and trailer is 26001 or more. Second, just adding to the number of cars carry does not always equate with a corresponding increase in net income. It takes a lot longer to load and unload 7 cars than 3. 7 stops for 7 singles can take more than a whole day. Sometimes there just aren't 7 cars going the same way. If you take muliple vehicles with 1 pick up, 1 drop, you get 1/2 the money of 7 singles. There are lots of other variables, you can't change one without affecting others.Jokingypsy and truckon Thank this.
