I realize you said you mistyped and meant to say "would" in there, but that sentence was a really long typo. Cranky Yankee gave a link to a lengthy thread that I just finished reading a little while back and you described their lease program practically down to the letter. Crazy Yankee and other described the lease many time over in that thread (which I recommend to anyone checking out TransAm). I don't have any reason to doubt what you say except to read your posts here and wonder. You sure he didn't lease and for whatever reason you think it's a company deal? I might have said nothing, but the $100 paycheck put me over the top.
I agree. -
I think she is covering her tracks because she didn't get from us the response she wanted.
Nothing about her story makes sense.
If he isn't making money as a company driver then there is no point to stay there.HotH2o Thanks this. -
"This morning his paycheck was less than $100. He pays for his own fuel, the others costs of truck, mostly everything, and they deduct so many prorated charges, that you are almost left with nothing."
That does not sound like a company driver to me...????? -
Because that is definitely not a company driver and exactky what you expect as a lease op with TransAm. Paycheck amount varies. Maybe he's got the wife convinced he's a company driver, but its clear that he is a contractor.

There are a very few companies out there that do it right and the driver can net more money leasing from them than as a company driver. Also if a drivers credit rating is bad it is one of a few ways to purchase a truck. ACT and Dart have decent lease purchase programs but the driver still needs a brain to make them work. Now I'm not defending lease purchasing, just a few companies.Jaguar115 and Panhandle flash Thank this.

Lots of double talk on that post. A company driver does nothing but drive. They don't pay any of the other costs.
A company driver does have to go where they tell them. You cannot turn down a load.
The 4 days a month is what they advertise as regular home time.
Training is only as long as needed to reach the number of required hours of driving. 3-4 weeks on average. They don't want you in that trainers truck any longer than necessary. The trainer is getting extra money per mile and paying the trainee a weekly salary.
I did the lease program at TA and it is far more expensive than they stated. That being said, if I would shut my mouth and gone everywhere they had me dispatched, I would have made a lot more money. I turned down a load to be home 1 day sooner. Why? Because I knew everything 1 month into the job! lol
I'm sorry to hear your husband missed the surgery but being gone is part of trucking. And you might want to find out what type of driver he really is. THe one guy I kept in touch with did fairly well as a company guy. Never a big check but never anything short either. -
White Dog what is your freaking problem, you harass someone with legit complaints who was blind sided into a terrible company and job, not everyone has the time to initially find a site like this and get the down low. How callous are you, this is a fellow human trucker getting taken advantage of and all you can do is sit in your big cowboy boots and dump on him.fr8te_sh8ker Thanks this.

Tell him to start building a record of his driving habits, show up at a shipper or receiver on time and make a record of it, signature or photos showing his reliability. Photo Qualcomm messages showing issues he is facing with the dispatch. Take photos of the check and check receipt and make sure all the photos are digital. Build this up withanything else to prove his cause and then quit. That way he can go to the next employer and show them why he quit. Also make sure he gets pictures of the truck when he leaves it and preferably has some on the to witness the condition. Anything you can think of to offset the bad report they will file on him for leaving. Remember he leaves and the truck loses money for a day or two until another poor driver gets in. The company will not like him leaving as it will cost them money, even for a day.
