To all my friends on here I am beginning to lose weight. As of right now, I weigh 455 lbs and I am wanting to get down to 255 within three years. I am not doing this alone, I will be having some help. A hospital down the street from me will be monitoring me and helping me lose weight by experienced dietitians and doctors. I will change my habits when it comes to eating and I have already made strides to do so. When I moved down here to Indianapolis, I weighed 480 lbs and when I married my wife, we juiced during the spring and summer months and I lost a considerable amount of weight down to 455 and plateaued. Now that I have sought the help of professionals, I am ready to lose this weight, prevent diabetes and heart disease. I plan on dying at an old age and I am confident that I can do that. I have already made strides. I am no longer OTR, I am home everyday so I can bring my lunch. My lunch now consists of fruit, vegetables and a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich and I gulp down more water than I do soda. I will update you all on my progress and I thank you so much for your support. If you want to give me suggestions or help tweek my diet, feel free to do so. Thank you all!!

I hope the best for you! I recently had a sleeve gastrectomy and have lost over 80 pounds in the last three months. One thing I did was get some protein drinks and protein bars. Premier Protein is a brand sold at Costco and Sams and has the best bang(protein) for the buck. Good luck!Goodykos Thanks this.

Good luck! I've given up many things...cigs and booze....but food is a whole other deal. VERY difficult to say no to junk food on the road. It kills stress and it kills boredom but it also eventually kills you.

I hear that! Gave up booze 17 years ago and cigs 16 years ago. Now they wanna take my cupcake? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Best of luck to you. I got all the way up to 365 lbs started dieting most cutting out sugar and 95% of carbs and although it was rough in the beginning I got used to it and in 6 months I am down to 309 lbs. So it can be done..

I have been thinking about losing weight also. I have jumped up over 300. The biggest I've ever been. I always told myself if I hit 300 it's time to take drastic measure. I have adjusted some of the stuff I eat but doesn't seem to help. I don't exercise. I pull tankers and normally am running my 14 right down to the last minute. After a 14 hour work day the last thing in my mind is "boy I should go for a 2 mile walk around this truck stop." All I'm thinking about is grabbing a bite to eat and hitting the bed. I need motivation. I have no will power. I eat when I get bored driving.

Good luck to the guy that wants to lose weight and is 455lbs. I look at it from a different angle. How on earth did you let yourself balloon to that weight. I freak out if I gain 5 lbs. do yourself a favor and educate yourself on nutrition. Why do you eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? That's not an ideal combo to lose weight. No matter what you have to cut the carbs down to nothing. Which means no bread, soda, pasta, potatoes, rice. Sugar is the scourge of anyone who wants to lose weight. It's the real killer. In the west we eat waaaaaay to much sugar. Diabetes is at epidemic levels. It's a disgrace.
It's not enough to be given suggestions on what to eat. To me that's useless. You should read up on what different food groups do when eaten. In other words what does a protein do, a fat, a carb, etc. after years of research, I've come to the conclusion that carbs are slowly killing us, not fat !!
So I'm talking about something that flies in the face of what the experts say, which is a low fat diet. Sorry but it's BS.
in order to lose weight, the carbs have to go, but it's very difficult to do this, believe me. I do it everyday and it took me time to adjust. I don't listen to doctors and these so called experts. They're wrong!! Look around you in any truck stop. Are the so called experts advice working?? Nope. Doctors in the main know nothing about nutrition but love to give you a pill to solve your problems. People want a quick fix. There isn't one !!
FYI I'm 61 yrs old, do little exercise, weight 185lbs blood pressure 110/75 and take zero meds. I say this not to brag, but what is possible. I'd love to exercise more but I'm not much of a real active guy. But I'm very disciplined in what I eat. I don't have treats. I don't eat fast food or truck stop garbage. To lose 200lbs + it's gonna take time and perseverance. Good luck to you, I'm sure you can do it but be patient and don't give up.mrbmg Thanks this. -
Find someone to help you stay the course. Someone who will say don't eat that, talk that walk or did you take that walk ?
do that walk in the AM, make the bedtime meal a light one and go heavy on lunch.
