I am looking to work for swift. They said they have a Western regional route for people living in Colorado Springs. I have read a lot about the company and have heard some good and bad.
Do they require you to wear a uniform?
How much is the pay for someone with 3 months OTR experience?
Do they have prepass?
Do their trucks have 10 speeds?
Any other comments or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A few questions about swift.

I am looking to work for swift. They said they have a Western regional route for people living in Colorado Springs. Yes they do have Western regional. When you start you will be OTR. After a few months of on time performance you can request to do Western regional or a dedicated account.
Do they require you to wear a uniform? No. If you are a trainer then they want you to wear a uniform. Regular drivers don't.
How much is the pay for someone with 3 months OTR experience? Starting long haul OTR is $0.25 / mile. They may start you at that, or possibly somewhat higher.
Do they have pre pass? Yes.
Do their trucks have 10 speeds? They have a variety of transmissions. 9 speeds, 10 speeds, and 13 speeds. Somebody said they also have a few automatics.
Any other comments or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Why are you moving to Swift with 3 months experience?JR80 Thanks this. -

No.
It would be best to call the company and talk to recruiting. I'll text you the phone number.
That, they do.
When they started getting Kenworths, Volvos, et. al with the Cummins ISX engines, those had 10 speeds, but the Freightliners had 9 speeds (which could be converted to 13s for lease ops or the ones running the Rocky Mountain doubles).
Also, there's a whole subforum for Swift which you should find useful.JR80 Thanks this. -
Do the trucks all have the same key? Will one Volvo key unlock all of Swifts Volvos?
-
that don't seem to secure, But wait its swift LOL

WOW are these really the things that you base your decision to work for a company off of ?
I am once again amazed at what has become of the trucking industry. -
My company is an all Volvo fleet. So far I've not been able to open a truck other than mine, lol.
Fwiw, if you want make a copy of your Volvo key, the blank that they make Chrysler keys out of works. Part #Y154-PJR80 Thanks this. -
I just had a couple of general questions about the company. You assumed that those questions were deal breakers for me. Thanks for the response though have a good one.

I used to drive for them. The pay lame, but it was through them I was able to get into driving. I trained in an International with a 10 speed, then went onto a Volvo 670 with a 10 and then a newer 670 with the i-shift transmission. I didn't have to wear the uniform, wore one anyway. Trucks had a pre pass. I did OTR dunno about their regional lines. All said they were ok. BIg company, you can become a number but I didn't feel that way out of my terminal at least. No APU and inverter became a PITA(yeah I like my gadgets), moved on for better pay.
JR80 Thanks this.
