Well hopefully YRC doesn't start making us work like that. I know CF never did anything like that. They were like YRC. You had dockworkers, local drivers, line drivers and sleeper teams that were home every week. I sure miss those days. Seems Conway took the gloves off after they destroyed CF. Have to punish all the current and future drivers for all the good pay, benefits, pension, etc that they had to shell out at CF.

well most drivers are hungry for the money so they'll do it. When I get to the FAC, give me 2 and let me go..Life is for living, not slaving on a tow motor -
Thanks for the reply cenutry. I am no stranger to unloading my own trailer but not loading it. However at Frito Lay its usually 2200 cases of various chips deadstacked on the floor. A conway driver saw me unloading at a vendor in st. louis once and just said I hope they pay you good. Im on pace to make about 65000 this year. He said he was making a lot more than that but had been with conway for 15+ years. Can you share with me what you think a first year guy would make? There hiring at 19.22 hr or .425c per mile for line haul. Im currently making more than that but have to work weekends and im on call 24/7.

is conway frieght appentice program prorated if you dont stay the year or do they make you pay the whole amount anyone let me know

They'll send you a bill for the full amount if you quit anytime during your first year. They done it to two of the guys I worked with while I was at conway. They weren't even getting 40 hrs/week so they had to quit to survive, and conway still wanted the full 3500 (or whatever it is). Not saying that all apprentices get "lean" hours at every terminal but they did at my former terminal.
CenutryClass Thanks this. -
DSR (Former Employee), LONG BEACH ULB TERMINAL CALIFORNIA
Pros: pay, weekends off, home daily(though only long enough to sleep)
Cons: horrible treatment, cameras in cabs, no breaks
Long days without breaks, they call all their employes DSR's (Driver Sales Representative) do to a loophole in the labor laws that state labor laws do not apply to sales reps, if you work the dock all day and decide to take a break after 12 hours they can and WILL fire you for stealing company time!
Aside from being treated horribly this is a great place to make money if you cant find a driving job elsewhere, they start at $20hr (or $0.42mi for LH) and work you 60-70hrs a week whether you like it or not, If you work on linehaul plan on sitting on the side of the road for a few hours every Saturday morning because they WILL run you out of hours every Friday night.
They will hire people fresh out of driving school so this is a good place to get the 1-2 years driving experience that other companies require!
