Not caring what anyone else thinks helps. Take as much time as you need and don't be afraid to take trip around the block to reposition
Keithdabarber Thanks this. -
Take your time...someone once told me to watch how someone pulls out of a space/dock, then you back in the same way...make sense?
-
Should i line my truck up straight and 90 degree it in, or is a 45 degree best when i have the room to do it
Watching somone pull out makes alot of sense. Now making my truck do those moves in reverse will require time lmao -
Ask for a easier door!
Also make sure your spotter does not have ADD. Especially if it is a tight blind side.luvtotruck Thanks this. -
If you have the extra time you might be able to get some practice at a abandoned warehouse or a empty dock?
-
I wouldnt have a problem doing it at a abandonded dock, I more or less concerned about doing it when you have a row of trucks across from the doors and a trailer on either side of your assigned door.
I guess i dont undestand how to get it in there when you dont have enough room to let your tractor swing out. If that makes sense. -
Get out and ask another driver who is in the docks how...I have done it numerous times...and will do it again.
-
Can't you use the truck that you drive now and practice with it? If you can then get into a place where you can practice with setting up different types of backing maneuvers and use cones or something to mark as trucks and try it that way. Just a suggestion.

I have not actually started for the company for my new route. I could ask but im not sure how my boss would feel about me doing that with never seeing me drive before.
But hey, I was honest before he hired me so he knows about my experience and my lack of.
Im just going to take it slow untill i get the hang of it and over time i hope it gets alot better.
