I had a Freighliner Century with detroit 14 l engine. My expiriance wasnt pleasant (comfort, mpg, constant problems) i invested almost 50 k on repairs in last 2 years. i got in a jacknife 2 days ago in ohio and now everything is gone (total damage).
Im now looking for truck with lil bit more comfort and better mpg around 50 000 $. Any suggestion will be appreciated, thank u!!!

With only 2 years experience and a jack knife under your belt, do you really think being an 0/0 is your best option? Maybe driving isnt your best bet. I can't imagine getting insurance after a total loss will be easy.

If you have cash, walk onto a lot, find a truck for around $60,000 and offer $50,000 cash. They jump at it. It worked great for me.

u think jacknife occurred because my expiriance??? that can happen to anybody, specially under those weather conditions. and for my almost 3 years expiriance i have 500 k miles, i had one violation and this is my second ticket (failure to control). i think im pretty good at driving and im safe driver ;)

Volvos are comfortable, but I've heard a LOT of drivers complain that they're very hard and expensive to work on. Maybe you can snag a decent Kenworth for that price... Take a look around at the different lots, and don't be afraid to test drive!

Buy a 1979 GMC 5 star general tractor with a small sleeper.......in good condition with fresh paint.

They are Super easy to work on.(easier than a car)... Everyhthing is Steel..no plastic parts to move to get to OTHER parts to repair.

Insurance is cheap.........Detroit 318 motor teamed up with a 13 or 15 speed and your in it to WIN it!

make sure you grease her up every week and she'll last you a lifetime.

Forget about this new computerized...emission controlled garbage......Your Profits will fall if you play 'follow the leader' in trucking

My father lived this way. He always bought used equipment with cash and maintained his fleet so that his trucks always looked and drove like new. When he passed on, he left my mother a sizable inheritance. I know I am partial, but I don' think I have ever met another person with his work ethic.
