Ok, first off I have been driving for 9 years, and just stopped driving about 3-4 months ago. So I have experience, and I just got my brand new DOT medical card. Ok with that being said I want to go OTR so my question is I dont want to have to take a refresher course, or anything like that I would like to go with a company where I can just drive with a trainer if I have too. I dont mind having to drive with a trainer, but I dont want to have to go through everything again I just want to get with a trainer and get going. Of course having experience I'm trying to stay away from companies like Swift, Schneider, PAM, PRIME, etc... If they would let me get going though right off the bat im not afraid to drive for any of them and yes I will take all the Swift jokes lol. I dont have a problem with my pride and I'm not a no it all I will listen to what anyone has to say and take anything into consideration. Thank you all for your time very much appreciated it! My buddy was talking about Seward out of Nebraska I believe, and I was looking into Richart out of Mt. Vernon, OH. Thanks again everyone look forward to hearing who will let me get going with a trainer.
This question is for all you truckers with experience.

As far as I know as long as you have at least 1 year over the road within the last 3 years you shouldn't need a refresher course. If your time during the 9 years was all local then you would need to do a refresher course. As long as you can verify your 3-4 months away from driving dr, w-2, self employment, or unemployment.
I dont see see a reason in your question why you would need a refresherBfr38 Thanks this. -
9 years and only being idle for a few months is no big deal. I have had periods of time over the years where I was out on medical leave longer than that. As long as you meet the minimum qualifications for a carrier, that time off will not really be an issue at all. You know how to drive and have the experience, so even if you had stopped driving yesterday and were to start at a new carrier tomorrow, the biggest issue you would have is getting acclimated to a new carriers operation.
What was the reason you stopped driving, if you care to answer?Bfr38 Thanks this. -
Holiday Express out of Estherville, ia will put you to work without a refresher course if you only stopped a few months ago after nine years of experience. 800-831-5078.

Thank you guys really appreciate it! I quit driving because of the company I was driving for I was paying 50% of fuel which I know better and will never ever do again!!! They were lieing, cheating me out of money etc... I worked one week for 197 and some odd cents and worked 70 hours!!! that was the icing on the cake so I went back to Security, and now im ready to get back going again. I want to see the country. Everything I did was local mostly just ran Buffalo, WV.

Thanks for getting back to me I really appreciate it! I quit driving due to a company screwing me over very bad. They were lieing on loads, they were cheating you out of pay. I was a company driver and was paying 50% of fuel which I know better that was very stupid of me!!! I will never do that again!!! I worked 70 hours one week for a check of 197 dollars and some odd cents thats when I quit of course! Money I was only supposed to pay half the fuel and whatever the truck made I got half, but wait to you see this check I will show you on here. This is why I quit I should have took them to small claims court and im not the only one there doing this to! I'm not the kind of guy to do that, but enough is enough.

Dang! I think even swift might give you a little more than $197 after 70 hours. (I think)

Lol I heard that! It was a joke look at this pay stub I hauled this much, and keep in mind some of these trips were to WV. I live in OH so its not far, but still and keep in mind this was there truck so they're responsible for the tires, breakdowns, etc...

View attachment 62461 This looks like 50/50 dont it lol? I circled what the truck made, which it made more than that, but thats what they said, and thats what I made. This is why I quit driving for a while.
