Yes... We survived for years without theses standards...Not saying it was good...

I try not get to bent out of shape. When I see this stuff... people make choices.. I make choices.. In a free society they can do that.. Do you always run the speed limit? We break laws everyday...

 

We don't know the story behind it.Maybe the baby was crying for his mama.The lady may have her baby in the seat most the time.

 

You're going to see this sort of thing happening more often. The woman losing a job or can't hold a job, then the family can't afford rent so they live in the truck trying to survive and hoping something better comes along (not likely, though in today's world led by clowns that frown upon encouraging economic growth)

 

No seatbelts, lead based paints, no bike helmets, parents spanked us, teachers disciplined students wore our backsides out when we got out of line, dad would slap the piss out of you in public if you got unruly...and we turned out pretty decent. Barbaric by today's standards, I know.

Now, we recycle, wear seatbelts, give kids timeouts, tie parents and teachers hands, and the now the country is overrun by a bunch of disrespectful fat kids who slap their parents around. I really miss the barbarians.

 

I see stupidity every day. Many times in the form of someone forcing their views on how someone else should live their lives because some think they know better than others.

 

Vehicles came into frequent and common use over 120 years ago.
Car seats have been around for the better part of 40 years.

I'm not saying that the current state of affairs in this country isn't to blame on the past eight or so generations smacking their heads on windshields. But I'm also not saying it isn't possible.

 

Didn't a seat belt used to consist of a mother's hand and arm flying across you during a hard brake event?
