I can't speak with authority on flatbed pay, but I know that it is higher than dry van and reefer, probably about .41 cpm to start and up from there with experience. Maybe a driver in the flatbed fleet will chime in here with a more definitive answer. Good luck to ya. Roehl is an excellent place to start and many drivers do stay with them for the long haul.

ATX appears as if you've done alot of things right with Roehl congrats again! Like some drivers have stated always lots to learn,
just curious if Roehl doesn't have motivated Drivers that want to train rookies? Or because you were eager and passionate about
driving maybe you could tip there scale as far as retention? Just a thought!ATX Thanks this. -
He's a trainer now. He's old hat.

I remember some of the dumb #### I got away with after 5 years. Training after one, no way. No offense, but that's what is wrong with the industry. We have inexperienced folks training new drivers. Teachers need training before they can teach. There should be a 5 year, accident free time limit on all drivers wanting to train.
Swamprat55, Joetro, moosc and 1 other person Thank this. -
To train individuals to operate equipment in a specific way as to maximize efficiency is a learned trait. If an individual consistently reaches goals set by the Company then that individual has learned the method of operation the Company desires. That is what these trainers teach. Realistically you could teach anyone to drive a truck. They do that in Truck driver classes all over the country. Those drivers come to Roehl and other companies with a desire to drive, some make it while others do not make it past orientation. Then these driver prospects are sent out with a trainer for two weeks to learn this "Method" of operation that saves the company money, lives and equipment. Some make it past this step and some do not! Then comes phase three, you are issued a tractor and given a dispatch. You go out and practice this method of operation with safety, efficiency and economy as your key stones. If after a year you have shown the company that you have learned to operate and have become proficient with this method you are in a position to be a valuable asset to the company as a trainer.
ATX, congrats on your achievements over your first year! Those that would belittle your achievements don't get the big picture!
With the ever increasing Government Regulations and the spiraling fuel costs the Ma and Pa operations have all but disappeared and the Big Mega Carriers are struggling to maintain. So it becomes crucial to the welfare of the company that this method be taught and practiced by all. If after five years behind the wheel you haven't been asked to be a trainer, I question whether you have learned the "Method"?ATX Thanks this.
