I do EVERYTHING in my power to not pull for them. Which reminds me I need to find myself a customer outta the Carolinas
-
they are tarp straps not bungee cords the bungee cords are for use on motorcycles to hold luggage on

Ok, I have not read all the posts on this one. Just part of page 5 and 6.
You are saying you don't get paid enough for tarp lds. Correct.
That you do not know how to rate a tarp ld.. Easy to figure that out.
They tell you it's a tarp ld. So you ask how big how wide and tall..
Ok. I know my tarps are 24/24. Do you want full tarp top tarp or what.
Then you figure your sizes. My tarp fee is 250.00 per tarp.. Don't wanna pay it I don't tarp or haul that ld..
See how easy that is. -
Famous last words...

Well I admit it. Being honest. lol

Thats how I do it. Had a driver tell me that I shouldn't be greedy. Those tarps cost me $250 apiece. My rate is $250 per tarp. How is that greedy?
What happens if you agree to tarp a load for $75 (two tarps, legal load), it's the load from hell, and it shreds two tarps? Takes half a business day (5 hours) to tarp a load from hell. Case of tarp straps cost $50 for 50, you lose 5-10 every time you use them. So, $500 for your time and tarp supplies...how is that greedy? You put your truck in the shop for 5 hours, that's how much they're going to charge you, right? If you say to the mechanic, "A hundred an hour is being greedy", what is he going to tell you to do with your truck? -
Yes lots of practice & bungee straps it works wonders

dont be defensive. Alot of the guys on this forum have alot of knowledge and experience. Not saying you dont , but I know sharing ideas & exp. will help all of us. When I get input from the guys & gals on here , it helps what little I know click and make sense. Listen to what these guys are telling you and charge for your work, tarping, waiting , lay over , whatever. You, your truck and your service have a value. Sell it, dont give it away.
Its scary at first for fear of losing the load, but once you start doing it, youre gonna kick yourself for not doing it earlier. -
Yep there are allways costs involved and that needs to be factored into the tarp rate.
I just got done getting 3 of my tarps repaired. 250.00 total in costs.
