I'm about to leave for orienation soon for covenant transportation. My only concern is I haven't been inside/driven a truck for about 3 months now. Do you guys think I'll be able to remember everything and drive fine for the road test or is 3 months too much time that has passed?
You might be wondering why so long since driving... well I went through central refrigerated program, got my cdl and went with a trainer otr for a month. I didn't pass my upgrade test to be a company driver with central so they turned me away(couldnt back the truck up.) It took about 3 months to get my certificate from central because I owed $3000 for the schooling. A lot of companies refused to take me because that 3month gap waiting for the certificate...covenant was one of the only ones that would take me.
So if anyone can give me some feedback that would be appreciated. Would I still be able to remember how to drive after 3months?
do I still remember how to drive after 3 months

It is normal to second guess yourself, but once you get back into the truck, it will be like you never left.

Not for a newby.

you should be able to drive it fine forward, but you probably still cant back up very well. I assume you are going out with a trainer again?
central must not have very good trainers if they couldn't teach someone to back up. -
Don't worry you'll be checked out by saftey and they'll make shure your good and ready before they send you out. You can almost count on going through retraining.

Some ppl are slower learners then others.Central should have put him with another trainer and remain training till his backing is up to par.

Depends on if it's in your genes or not. I can stay away 5 years and come back to it like I was never gone. It's like riding a bike once you truly gather up the basic skills. If you never really got the hang of it, the best day you ever had before you left is the best you can hope for once you return.

Well I told the trainer I wasn't ready yet, but he said "oh you'll be fine." So he went ahead and signed me off. It was the day before christmas so he just wanted to get rid of me as well so he could go home. They also told me there is no guaranteed employment with them. This is my last try too, if I can't pass the test then that means I'm not meant to be a truck driver...so much for following your dreams lol.

No it does'nt mean you're not meant to drive trk. What it means is you need to try harder and not give up.
