Hello all. I am about to venture out on a new career in this field - if I can get everything nailed down. Haven't bought any equipment yet, but am looking into doing the 1 ton dually thing and researching it to see if I can make this a viable option. I have been in the corporate world for a long time. The last 8+ years have been traveling around the globe doing IT stuff and am burned out. I hate computersBut it has paid the bills. You may see me asking a lot of questions and I hope you don't become tired of me. I have been trolling here for a little while and finally decided to join to ask some questions that I haven't been able to find the answer to.

Hi,Jay,
As with every other new venture, I'm sure everyone here would agree with me that the first thing you should do is get your CDL, and then find a job driving someone else's equipment because you could change your mind quickly about buying your own truck.
Do that and save money so you can buy your own without dipping into your savings or getting a mortgage (or second)on your house. Then, if you do decide to buy, find a really good used one (a new one will depreciate about 30% the first year). -
Good luck IT guy. I love computers, but when it's your job it can't be your hobby
so here I am truckin. Idk anything about a 1 ton dually or I'd put my 2c in. Hope you find what your looking for.

Guy I load with in the morning used to run a dually...get a Dodge (Cummins)...he swears there is no other way to make it work...knowing how to work on it yourself is helpful as well.

Good luck, keep it rubber side down!
