Yes I've had bad weeks, and those 1,000 mile week usually for me are when I'm coming off home time. Sometimes the apointment times just don't fall in the pay period and you get a jacked up week. I was even hesitant to put my home time in because it was slow, but I know this is the slow time of year anyway for most companies. So I just have to hunker down until people start buying more meat. This is not a common carrier where you have a variety of freight from lots of customers to haul. so you limit yourself when you come here. I troll around to the common carrier side and see the same complaints that I hear in the break room. So hopefully they will keep me around at least until I can get my big vacation check. Last year it was over 2100. So cutting me from the payroll because I don't live 150 miles from a beef plant, and I have been at the top pay since I started. Would be a good move for the company. Yeah they would lose somebody who has been in top 10 in fuel mileage almost all year, but these trucks can get 7 and 8 mpg no problem. Even though that list they put in the drivers room didn't show that. Maybe they are doing a mass layoff of all those guys who had red marks. I was in the green. So I think that bought me another week.

I even expected a bunch of complaining about them putting camera's in all the trucks, but no body was saying how they were going to quit. I thought mine would come out the shop with a camera, but they were backed up. So guess I'll get one next time. If I haven't been axed yet. Only time will tell. Guess I better start filling out some online apps. I'm sure there are tons of reefer companies paying 40 cents or more and giving you 3 to 3500 miles a week, and no camera's and cheap health insurance, Paid Holiday's, trucks that can pull hills. Man how have I wasted all my time here. Anyway time to go job hunting. Good day sir.

I don't think anyone has made one. Make one if you want. They can close this one if they need to. Not much action going on.

I was debating on applying with JBS, but am not sure now. This thread kinda scared me. So, I was wondering if any of you JBS'sirs or anyone else as matter of fact, have ever hauled sand? there seems to be plenty of outfits advertising for sand hauling and oil field work. Has anyone ever heard of Links? RMT TRUCKING? DILLON? A&W? and what would be better JBS or OIL FIELD sand hauling?

From what I understand about the oil fields, one of the best paying driving gigs you can get. The downside, they work you until you burn out; seems no longer then a year till you call it quits. Now, this is what I'm told by people that have or, are doing it, I have not.
Good call on JBS, only way I would come close to recommending this company is if you were right out of school then, probably still wouldn't.
    how's your DAC look?

What is it that scared you. A bunch of cry babies quit and some got sent home. It's a trucking company like all the rest. If you can live on an avg of 2500 miles a week give or take with cheap good insurance, and you are not a big neck obese dude. You shouldn't have a problem. Most of our trips are out and back to Denver Area if you want home time. I will say I seen a sign for one of the oil companies saying guaranteed 1200 a week. If you like that type of work. I wouldn't see why you wouldn't do it till the oil boom dries out. JBS will still be here working out the kinks until then. Tons of oil field companies hiring up and down 85 between Greeley, and Denver. I'm sure you will probably have more of a regular routine and paycheck with them. I'm happy where I am. So don't know much about the oil field.

The miles you can look for at JBS are Normally between 1700-2200 a week. Even the recruiters are saying 2200 a week and that's the high side. Well over a year ago, 2500 was the norm but, hasn't been that way for some time. The benefits are great but, the problem is, no matter how good they are, you still have to pay something and who could afford it bringing home $500 a week.
