Had my first experience with it today. I had to cut a guy of because others were coming in from an on ramp is was either cut him off or run them off the road and cause an accident. Didn't want to do it but had to. Anyways long story short he got in front of me brake checked me a few times by that time I just dropped it down to 8 and gave him space. Passed him up the road and then he passed me beeping his horn the entire time and then while in front of me chucked a big gulp 40 oz soda out the window trying to hit the rig with it. :biggrin_2559:

    Whats your experiences?

I haven't had anything like that happen yet. I've been honked at I'm sure but nothing physical. And most of the time when people are honking it's because they're just being impatient D bags or they don't know what you're trying to do, like driving on the other side of the road to set up for a back, or taking two lanes so you can make a sharp right turn on a small street.

Why didnt you just "TAP" the brakes a little to slow down and let the cars merge into YOUR lane instead of cutting the other driver off ? So you tried to avoid one accident to cause another. No sympathy from me.

Gotta agree with Dave. If they were on the on ramp it would not be a matter of you running them off the road it would be a matter of them running themselves off the road or................maybe using their common sense while getting on the road next to a big rig.

Rule of thumb is to not slow down for merging 4 wheelers. They can speed up or slow down and fall in behind. Unnecessary lane changes cause crashes. The only time I make a lane change for traffic on a ramp is if it is a truck, and only then because forcing him to slow down and then merge at the slower speed would be more of a hazard than the lane change. But always, make sure your not cutting someone else off. Bad move!!!

I can't just tap the breaks and slow down when I was @ 72,000 pounds today. There was 3 cars in a row coming I did what I did. Thanks

First of all yes you can, you just can't stop on a dime. But the main thing is moving over and cutting a car off because you thinking that "you would run the other cars off the road". Granted none of us were there to see how much of a gap there was when you cut him off and maybe it was not even that big of a deal.........except to him. But on the flip side of the coin, like was mentioned....it's generally not a good idea to cause an accident to avoid one.

When dealing with a road-rager, the best thing do to is just slow down and let them get on down the road. Don't provoke them or escalet the situation. Even if they do something stupid, like brake-check you, and you end up having an accident, just remember that it is ALWAYS the trucker who is at fault, even if it is absolutely no fault on your part. It's not fair but it's just the way the world works.
