This company is not worth the paperwork my husband had to fill out! They make all the normal promises but definitely do not stick to them. His pay was what they promised the 1st month. After that he has had the lowest pay he has made as a trucker in 3yrs. Also, they are owned by Universal so if you drive for Great American, they don't have anyplace that they can do repairs on their trucks so you get the run around for weeks for a simple repair. He has talked to them several times but nothing changes. Don't waste your time unless you enjoy disappointment!

Was he in a company truck or his own? Universal is O/O based, so shouldnt he do his own repairs? These new drivers need to put on their big boy pants.

I do drive for one of the Universal companies. They are usually good to me. And I know that they have a company shop in Michigan.

UACL-Great american, Their Rates to outside trucks are Pathetic.......They think they can market their customers freighjt as what they deem "Fit" to pay an outside carrier

For instance..They move for arcellor-mittal Steel in Steelton,PA

I learned not to call them anymore because they are Paying $1100-$1150 from Steelton to Chicago-Crystal Lake or Milwaukee.. Pretty Sad

And its been that rate for years now...Should be Around $1500 to the truck on 650 miles inbound

Universal is another manny maroonie outfit ....in case you don't know ,manny maroonie is a trucking tycoon most of us here in Detroit recognize this man as a cancer to the trucking industry ....he owns companies like US EXPRE ,CENTRAL ,PAM,NPO, OTR,VITRAN,ON DEMAND, and the list goes on ,he has publicly stated drivers are over paid ,his track record of buying out companies and then degrading drivers pay ....local motor city truckers like me just stay away from himif we can as a measure of defense of our families well being ...his power and influence are unbridled ,he is a handful for the Teamsters ....as for me i just stay away ,i drive for my family and know better in fact auto frght here has become very cheesy,i think my boss wants to be more like him ...thinkin about getting into LTL with one of the common carriers ,alot of O/Os scraping the bottom ,driving us companies drivers out of a job ,while the companies sit back and take their cut off the runs without the cost of matinence in the mean time guys like me hold these runs until the company hands them off to the O/O ....business is business so im just keeping an eye out for my families sake ...time to change up and go a different route ....i know these op guys don't want to bang their equipment up in the city ,....i believe we are alone and on our owns .....DOT preaches safety but caters those with the bucks ...our gov. gives corporate mega fleets big kick backs and perjs as they ruin young drivers dreams and hurt their families ,playing these uninformed rookie drivers like backward fiddles

It's Manuel "Matty" Maroun, he should be ######## his diaper in a nursing home already. I don''t think he owns US Xpress, duct tape express (I mean Central) yes.
