changes to training program

Could it take a week tto meet up with trainer? Guess trying to figure out whats a day or so? Up to how many on the so part to be technical? I wouldn't want to sit too long as a trainee myself because of this and not getting paid.

 

Oh, so trainee can take that option and keep the same trainer then? If that's the case, that might sound better than waiting more than one day for a different trainer. Sounds like either way your still losing pay. Guess it just depends on how much faster the new trainer can get you vs. the other way. If its the same outcome, I would stick with the same one if it was already working out.

 

If the trainer is taking more than just a few days off then you are more than likely to be reassigned to another trainer. At least that's what I have seen lately.

 

my husband just got done coming off the truck with his trainer - and this is how it worked for him - When the trainer was taking home time- my hubby would call me a few days in advance and let me know what day....the time might be a little off depending on factors beyond either of their control - usually it was pretty close though and I'd go pick him up at the truck stop in the trainers hometown, which wasn't far for us - im super glad that the trainer my hubby had was someone who lived relatively close so that when he took home time - my hubby got home time with me!! Of course, it was unpaid and the trainer took a week at Christmas...made for a sad paycheck the next week on my his check - oh well - it is what it is and now my hubby has his own truck making his own miles!!!

 

So Im.. kind of curious.. are the Trainers people that are just every day drivers that get paired up with a trainee?

 

We are drivers selected by the training manager. Varying in experience. Personally I have almost two years commercially in the US 8 years in the army in three countries.

 

Drivers are able to "request" to be a Trainer after meeting thresholds. Once that happens they (the Driver)are reviewed by Safety, Training, Logs, Maintenance, and personnel/payroll. If all departments offer an "approved" rating the driver is allowed to train. Once that is complete the new trainer must attend a "Train the Trainer Class" usually taught by Mike Millis. After all that is complete they are paired up with a student when one becomes available.
