I started Prime Trucking's driver's school on January 7 and so far they have been great to me! I was placed with an instructor who equipped me to "trifecta" - that is pass all 3 portions of the skills test on the first attempt - for which I was paid a bonus. Now I'm out on the road with a trainer who is helping me learn all the aspects of driving and the business. Prime is paying me even on days that we don't drive anywhere. The people in the offices have been extremely helpful to me, overlooking my inexperience and ignorance, making sure my license and medical card are all in order. My fleet manager has been extremely helpful and patient with me as I try to grasp all the nuances of the trucking business. True, it has been almost 2 months away from home, but this week my fleet manager did get me home so I am a very, very happy camper.

Now I know some of you out there have blasted Prime for this, that, and the other, but then again some people are never happy anywhere. Likewise, every driver has to find their own "fit" in a company. So far I have only praise for my experience at Prime. The Springfield facility is wonderful, I am driving all over the place - not stuck in the northeast - and I am very pleased that I chose Prime. :biggrin_25519:

Glad to see it's going good for you. The training can sometimes be the roughest part, it sounds like you have a very positive attitude which goes along way. Keep us posted on your adventures with Prime. Just don't lease a truck until you've been driving for a while or ever for that matter.

Oh don't worry - I don't intend to! I have read enough and talked to enough people to know that I need to know a lot more than I do before leasing a truck! Thanks :biggrin_25525:

LOL - well, we may be slow, but we get bonuses for good fuel mileage to make up for it!

Good idea. Keep reading and talking to people until you know leasing from any company that decides your fate is probably not a good idea.
