That will be very short lived. The only ones that will make money fro m that truck is those manufacturing/selling them. Here's how the REAL world works. You (and others) buy this truck, then, because you can run cheaper, you start taking $1/mile freight because you calculate that even at $1 you net more than before @$2. Others with these trucks do the same, then shippers see $1 as the new norm and squeeze you to run for .75. Now everybody has to get these fugly new abortions just the compete and soon, trucking companies are running for the same net that they used to but they all had to buy new trucks at an artificially inflated price. The manufacturer/seller of these new abortions as well as shippers and brokers are laughing all the way to the bank and truckers are left playing the same rate game barely making ends meet as always. However, there's no stopping it.that65 and Aussie Tom Thank this.

that65 Thanks this. -
Your lost if you think you could even afford to buy one let alone maintain one, The future we will see, but we are a long ways away from that pile of shiet, how many millions do they have into that, when technology and manufacturing and not to mention technicians who can work on them catch up, then YES, you can have your 1.00 a mile freight and still be broke at age 65!!!Licensed to kill Thanks this.

As long as we have the Neanderthal way of thinking that will keep driving those ugly long nose chromed model Ts getting horrible fuel mileage and high fuel cost percentage to revenue produced, rates will stay high while those of us that are innovative will rake in a lot bigger profits. For this way of thinking, I THANK YOU!
I can remember when a hand held calculator was over $250 when they first came out back in the 70s and now they are $5 that are solar powered never needing a battery. Of course we now have smartphones that computerize our world and I guess the Neanderthals were standing around a few years ago criticizing this technology too like the horse buggy manufacturer criticized the automobile around 1900.
Nothing stays the same and you either change and adapt or go by the wayside in history. Fuel Cost is the biggest expense in our industry and hats off to Wal-Mart for tackling this expense in their operation that looking for the innovative change to keep them on top in Retail Sale Stores and not like K-Mart, Woolworth and Sears that were all number 1 at one time and have went by the wayside of history or have struggled through bankruptcy barely surviving against Wal-Mart who is making the changes to stay number one a very long time.
History 101 lesson over for today.Rockin&Rollin, BobcatVolvo and mattbnr Thank this. -

I never said technology won't come up with something better.. if this is so great, then why haven't UP,or BN put turbines in there locomotives that are made by GE 40 years ago?? you have to remember that everybody will be running these 15mpg trucks of the future and at maybe 7 to 10 dollars a gallon, p.s. if those ugly long nose trucks are so worthless than why do they have the highest retail value and why do you still see these 40 year old trucks rolling down the road? because to some of us its not all about making THE big BUCKS, but being happy, so we can take it with us when we croke...............
