I have a UNDER 26,001 truck and trailer combo and a NON-CDL drivers license. Do I need a medical card? and can someone tell me what happens if you need one and don't have it and get stopped? Do you get pulled out of service, do they issue a citation or do they make you go get one there??? Just starting out so any help would be great!!!

If you are not required to have a CDL, I don't see why a med card would be required. Don't quote me, as I'm just speculating, but I think you're fine without one.

Thank you for the quick response.

I know a guy that drives a class B type truck and it does in fact require a medical card but not a license. Weird.

If you ever have a question call your state's Highway Patrol or State Trooper hotline and ask. I've probably saved myself a ticket or two that way.

I provided the link for you, but in the future the FMCSA site is just as easy to use as this forum, and you will always get the correct answer (unlike the one above)
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/cdl/cdl-general-info.aspx
Caught without it and you will be put out of service, fined and equipment impounded most likely. -
Very confusing.. I have been driving a ROLLBACK that weighs 14,500 for years and been thru the DOT checkpoints several times and never been asked for a card but that was INTRAstate. Anyone know what happens if I get stopped and I am on a job and don't have one???

Best bet is go get a DOT physical. Just to be safe

That's the site I was looking @ and it confuses me.. Maybe it's just me but it's worded funky and I don't get it.. What would you say in my case? Truck and fully loaded trailer are under 26,001 and do not require CDL to drive.
