Tell your company that you need an EZ-Pass and a NYC map book and an extra $100 for each time you go. Oh, and don't forget "stop" pay.
Then follow the advice of some of these responders.
We're on our way to NYC for about the 6th time and we enjoy the adventure

I've been to Long Island (outside the city) about 20-30 times. I've been to Brooklyn or Queens for deliveries (and a pick up) about another dozen or so times. Not much different to me than Elizabeth, Jersey City, etc. Sure, tolls suck. But, just get enough on your load to justify paying them.

And yes, I've gotten lost in NYC several times. It's easy to happen. Miss your turn. Can't turn due to parked cars at the corner illegally, etc. NYC, slow and steady wins the race.

Not entirely true. There are truck stops off the TRUCK U.S. 1-9 ("One and Nine" for the uninitiated...) the service plazas would be like a last resort.

Try and stay off I-278 in Staten Island and Brooklyn if you can. I come through there with a set every Saturday and Sunday and let me tell ya...not a good time.

$200? That'll barely get you onto the island now. Don't forget to add in your outbound toll for the inner bridges (Triboro/Whitestone/Throgs Neck).
